Helldivers 2 9/10 GS

I did not think the game would score so highly due to the server capacity issues, but the actual game seems to be very solid.

I've been playing this almost every day since it came out. It's a very refreshing feeling compared to other Live Service games. I don't feel pressured or bothered to purchase any additional content.

AAA PS Console exclusive to start the year off for PlayStation.

What say you fellow system warriors? Will you be picking this up?

This is what you call the anti-Xbox tax, GS has done it before, wait until games functionality improves so you can justify a higher score. Only Sony games and PS exclusives are afforded such consideration. If MS had broken severs on launch they'd have no hesitancy of rushing out some 3-4/10 review.

Anyhow a Sony 9/10 is an MS 6-7/10, when we remove review handicaps, that's a multiplatform 7-8/10. So, so-so.

Awesome, but we all know SONY-current gen champ with PS5, is synonymous with world class, high scoring gaming.

Helldivers is the feel good game of the year. It's driven by stellar, thoughtful, frenetic gameplay and its not trying to lean on nothing burger elements of games like cut scenes and expensive, bloated filler that takes away from gameplay. It's tight, satisfying and it's made by a dev who loves gameplay first...

It's great to see so many new divers.... As a day 1 helldiver from the first game it makes me happy people are finally seeing this gem of a series.

For an old school guy like me helldivers is the logical evolution of smash TV.... Big money... Big prizes.... I LOVE IT!

To be fair, it was a very bumpy start. It still is a nuisance for many to get in. Matchmaking still doesn't work as intended... eight days after launch.

The worst game of the week gets a 9/10. What a comeback!

I'll be honest, I don't know much about Helldivers 2 as I wasn't following the crowd for this. Is really that good? I've watch few gameplay just now, I didn't think it looks like Starship Troopers style.

It is my understanding that this game is not single player friendly. Is this correct?

I play single player only to tighten up and try new stratagems without screwing up other people's runs. The game is meant for lots of quickplay mp or pairing up with friends. It will have a big community for a lengthy amount of time though, like the first game....so quick play shouldn't be challenge once they get these server issues fixed.

The game is asking you to go to war with your friends with mission based objectives that require coordinated gameplay. You can't be the guy who runs off to do your own thing or youre dead.

Just played several games with no issues with matchmaking! The bot invasion is absolutely brutal!

And now I can't get back in because the servers are full...

It'd probably be more if the servers worked!

Kudos to Sony for knocking it out of the park on their 1st attempt at a live service launch.. Multiplayer is one thing that was sorely lacking for me at Playstation and I hope this trend continues.. Was a huge fan of Socom, Warhawk, and M.A.G..

Deserved great score. This is the most coop fun i have had since Gears 3 and L4D2!

This game is MUCH better on PC than PS5. It's crazy.

Excluding MHW/HMR, this is the best coop experience that i've played since Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, and that shit is from 2012. And i am only level 3 with Medium difficulty being the highest i have currently unlocked. Fun wise, this is as 10/10 as it gets.

Playing it right now, and i am mad. I am furious because the way this game is structured, it would've been FLAWLESS for a Mass Effect multiplayer game. Imagine you have the same kind of map where you're liberating planets, have the same awesome progression system but you also have access to a shitload of biotic, tech powers etc to make the combat system even more chaostic and fun. Wouldn't that be amazing or what? Holy shit you know nobody at EA/Bioware is playing video games if they haven't done anything with their super successful ME3 multiplayer, and built on it.

With all the alien races the ME series already has, this is an incredible money printing machine that they have on their hands, and they're doing nothing with it... oh sorry, not true, they released a dogwater Andromeda.

When suits aka those who've never played a game in their life are in charge of massive projects, chances of it being good are so insanely low. This is how Redfall, Suicide Squad, Anthem, Skull n Bones are made.

Everyone says it's more fun to play than it is to watch and you just have to try it... I say that has really never been the way things have worked in the past, but I guess eventually I'll give it a try. I was all ready to purchase 3 copies of the game before looking into it... and I was completely underwhelmed by what I saw. In all honesty I don't see how a game like this scores a 9 and games that look a lot alike get 7 and 8s.

Actually, for me, watching some cuts of gameplay like they've done in the trailers seemed super generic. But when watching higher difficulties played in coop with uncut gameplay that i've seen a few days ago on twitch, that is what got me interested.

Every single person that was into the ME3 multiplayer should be playing this. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Now that the game is as successful as it is, i hope they invest much more money into the sequel, but without casualizing it. Even tho the game is amazing, i see a lot of indie-like things in it. Reminds me of Returnal.

What's indie-like? Nevertheless, it's AAA and has been in development for eight years.

Lots of stuff.

For example, look at the animations while walking and running. Its super floaty, something that in our day n age, won't be the case in an AAA title (especially a Sony AAA game). Then the couple of npc's in your ship, have you seen how generic and ugly they are? There's only like what? Three of them, and you're gonna tell me that they couldn't create them to look good? These are the shortcuts every indie developer takes to save money and time during their game development. Extremely apparant in Returnal, and its the same case in Helldivers2. Now, don't think i am pooping on the game, the game is amazing, BUT this is exactly the kind of things i notice when playing a game from a less known developer that didn't have a big budget for the game. And you can call this nitpicking, but to me, that's immersion breaking. When you've seen how it could be in the likes of TLOU2, Ragnarok, etc, its hard to go way back.
