MS really wants you to subscribe to GamePass lol.. Thoughts, SW? I’m definitely not liking this trend. Give people options!! At least IP_Daily and I can agree on this topic lol.

@SolidGame_basic: It's 8 hours long.

Only Sony charges you full price for games that short.

The first Hellblade was AA with a budget of $10 million. Hellblade II is a AA game as well. The asking price and delivery method is that of a AA game. Makes sense

That's disappointing. Hopefully a third party publisher like limitedrun will get to do a physical release at some point.

I had no interest in this game to begin with, but MS has no excuse to not make a physical copy of this game.

Yea, AW2 being digital only was a big reason I didn’t get it at launch. I will wait until it’s a bargain.

Digital is the future...unfortunate for those who like physical copies. I was big on physical only when I had consoles but I'm on Steam so only digital and only Steam for me...which is why I haven't picked up Alan Wake 2 or Kingdom Hearts on Epic

I'd be the last person to have Phil's number.

And secondly you think that buying AW 2 at a cheaper price is some sort of gotcha, you're still buying it and thus supporting digital, use you brain man.

Expecting this to be a 5/10 linear as **** six hours long experience. I said it before, and i will say it again, its Ryse Son Of Rome of this generation.

And think about it, it took them ages to make this game, and its only $50? Why? Because its a half assed experience made from the ground up to be rented on GP for $1.

You're complaining about people who voice their opinion on how they would like to buy their entertainment.

So you're an advocate for less choice, weird hill to die on but hey you do you.

Im not taking a position at all.

I buy all of my PC games digital, all console games physical.

My point was we have people complaining about digital games, DRM, microtransactions, etc.............then we (as an industry) go out and buy digital content by a wide margin.

Thats my point, im not advocating for digital only releases.

Some of the same people in this thread complaining have talked about their digital purchases.

Just to be clear, i'm not against digital, i'm against 100% digital. I buy cheap indie games on Xbox when they're on sale. Expecting indie games to get a physical release is fanciful. I'm also not against people buying AA or AAA games that way, I am however 110% for choices on how people buy their games.

Having less options on where and how you purchase games is anti-consumer, it's crazy to think any other way.

If digital is the only way to purchase games in the future, then I will go full retro (im halfway there already)

It maybe just me, but I see bad things happening if the gaming industry was to go fully digital.

Your first post suggested otherwise (imo) maybe you should have posted this comment instead. Also there is a digital absolutist in this thread that you never mentioned, so you can see why I posted a reply to your comment.

The reason you buy digital is because PC gamers threw away their rights to multiple purchasing options and that's the only way to purchase now except for the very few collectors editions etc.

I understand that digital is now the leading way to purchase games, i'm not against, i'm against digital being the only way to purchase.

As I posted earlier there are games that released last year that too are AA games, and they released physical version, so MS has NO excuse not to release one either.

Digital is a scam in my eyes. I mean there is no reason a digital game should cost the same as a physical version or even more (in my country) they should be cheaper, it's as simple as that but gamers have let this fact slip through the net and have just accepted it.

We are definitely on the same page.

100% digital would be a disaster for the industry I believe.

The issue I was responding to are the usual suspects on this board complaining about digital games.............only to support digital games.

I wanted Alan Wake 2 physical copy just to collect but they unfortunately chose digital only

I wouldn't buy a physical copy anyways. Nice to see them not charge $70 for an 8 hour game. I'll be playing on GP since MS gives me the option to play their first party games on launch day with the service.

Yes, solid talks a lot of 💩 I agree, and has zero conviction. If Sony went 100% digital tomorrow, he would make a thread about how he's always been pro digital lol.

So, I can see how annoying people like him can be.

A quick example of an all-digital future looks like this. On the Xbox marketplace Forza Horizon 4 which came out nearly 6yrs ago is currently selling the standard edition for $99.95 in Australia, so I assume that's $60 in the US. There is no reason why it should cost that much 6yrs later, and physical copies go for as little as $40 Australian ($20 US) and there are multiple copies at different prices, whereas you're stuck with the digital price until MS has a sale that lasts a week and then back to full price again.

This isn't a bash MS thread for me as i'm a lem on these boards, it's just that MS should be offering as many options for people to buy the game, not limiting consumers options.

Even as a PC gamer and I do in fact buy my console games digitally (except Nintendo Switch) I don't like seeing game companies going 100% digital and I still like seeing gamers having more options between physical and digital.

MS knows its audience will just play Hellblade 2 on Game Pass, so of course they're gonna try this crap. All I can tell you all is this. Vote with your wallets. Tell'em you ain't buying it. It's that simple.

As far as Hellblade 2 goes, I was not on the hype train for this at all. Yes, I own the first game on Steam but I got that game on a sale. No way I'm gonna resub to Game Pass just for Hellblade 2. Like the first game but the sequel wasn't my idea. I'll get it when it's dirty cheap as I did for the first game.

Stupid non-Sony fanboys coming in here with their stupid facts.

But your wrong.

The order 1886 was $ 59.99, Miles Morales was $ 49.99 , Until Dawn was $59.99. The only game that launched for $70 was Rift apart and it had more then 8 hours of gameplay.

I only buy digital on XBOX, so this isn't an issue for me. I like that it will be cheaper than a typical game.

I still haven't sat and played the first Hellblade and I bought that ages ago.

Although I have the physical PS4 version of Hellblade 1 it doesnt bother me as much not getting a physical release of Hellblade 2 since it isnt coming to PS5 anyway. PC is my only option to play this game and I only buy digital for it, although only on deep deep sales

AW2 though... I want my physical copy goddammit
