Geoff: Nintendo's Game At VGX Is 'World Premiere'

Nice. More disappoint from Nintendo. I get the feeling that Nintendo just doesn't give a shit about competition at all.

Why do people get so upset? It was said from the beggining that it would be a new look at an upcoming game. People just twisted what was said and expected things that were not promised.

It was a disappointing announcement at a time Nintendo really needs to be shining. Not to mention they had a lot better games they could have shown like X, or SSB instead.

Why would Reggie AND the dude from Retro be there to reveal Cranky Kong, surely that's a one man job.... I think Metroid IS on the horizon, and the guy from retro is there to talk about it.... hopefully!!

Sadly, only to explain game mechanics, Reggie is an executive and the Retro guy was only there to show game mechanics.

Nintendo is a huge sack of disappointment these days.

Metroid Prime series is done. If anything, I'd like to see what Retro does with something else besides Metroid and DK. For Metroid, I want Metroid 5, it's long past due.

HAHAHAH even Kojima's "big surprise" was bigger. lol Nintendo is so laughably pathetic i don't know how could anyone defend them. I expected nothing because its Nintendo. I received nothing. Came out unsurprised.

guys chill. this wasnt going to make or break nintendo, getting rid of that tablet controller and cutting the price will. the sooner they anounce that the better, they are probably saving metroid/zelda for a later date

Then how exactly are they supposed to market the thing? That its eight times less powerful than a ps4 and you can play same copy/pasted Mario once or twice a year? The system has nothing going for it and without the iPad its the same as selling Wii in 2013.

the hardcore nintendo fans havnt taken to the tablet, neither have the casuals. they can market it as a nintendo hd console for a cheap price, ship ship with pro controller. announce new zelda/metroid, super smash is coming out next year along with kong and mario kart. all they need is to drop the tablet and cut price

I was at least expecting a SSB character reveal. It would've seemed more appropriate for the situation.

Predictable reactions of disappointment aside, I am actually open for a playable Cranky Kong. I mean, there's got to be something in finally being able to play the old Kong from the old arcade game even if he's old and it's not like fiction hasn't worked with badass old-timers before.

Nintendo's disappointing reveals and "secrets" are making me hate on this game. It's like reverse marketing. Nintendo keeps disappointing and in turn I want nothing to do with them.

What's even sadder than Nintendo's announcement is that people actually got hyped for it and set themselves up for disappointment.

Nintendo constantly over-hypes and under-delivers on their announcements. By now, it should be the first thing you expect whenever they open their mouth.

Isn't this Nintendo's first appearance ever at this thing? I still can't believe they came to this thing for the very first time just to show a playable a character for Tropical Freeze. At the very least, they could have shown more footage for Bayonetta 2 if they were just going to show games already announced.

I don't know who the bigger crybabies are. Those like me that are disappointed with the reveal, or the Nintendo fanboys that are crying over people laughing at Nintendo.

C'mon Nintendo, you could have at least teased Zelda or something interesting. Revealing a playable character to a game that was already supposed to be released does not warrant your first VGA Appearance.

Didn't they say that Zelda was reserved for E3? Didn't they also clearly state that it was already going to be about a game that was already coming out for the VGX?

They did not say that Zelda was reserved for E3, and there was news stated by the damn host of the VGA's that the reveal was a "World Premiere", which typical implies that it is something new entirely. Really, people wanted to see something exciting, like a new Star Fox or F-Zero, a new IP, Zelda, or Metroid. Instead we got freaking Donkey Kong. That is two times within in the same year that Nintendo has trolled people with Retro.

Wii Fii Trainer is awesome, though. This is not. It's like E3 all over again when Nintendo hyped up Retro's new game announcement and that game turned out to be Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.

Uh... in regards to Zelda, yeah they did.

You realize that part of that was Geoff Keighley's fault, right? Game Informer noted that Nintendo themselves made it clear, while Geoff, being the prick that he is, took it further, which, once again, caused more begging for franchises that people should already know that Nintendo is not going to bring back from their hiatus anytime soon, especially one where Miyamoto himself has also stated isn't coming anytime soon.
