There is a reason Nintendo is announcing this at the VGAs. lt must be a franchise of theirs that has more appeal to the west. So it HAS to be either

Metroid

Zelda

Star Fox

Earthbound, dark horse

@charizard1605: Well if it's a NEW FRANCHISE, I'm interested in seeing what it is. This is really what I want Nintendo to start doing. Create some new characters and new IPs. I would really love a new StarFox game for the Wii U as well. Wii U could become relevant again with new games a nice price cut.

Let's see, it's more or less a given that it is a known franchise. Nintendo doesn't have the balls to release a new IP and continue to cash in on our nostalgia.

I'm betting it's Zelda-U.

The thing is, we KNOW Zelda is coming (and coming and coming), we don't know if there will even be a new Metroid. I never expect much from these announcements. You guys get hyped every time and every time it ends up being something mehtacular. But if it IS going to be big, than a Metroid FPS would make me scream like a littl girl.

I think Zelda or Metroid are the only things that would interest that audience. I personally would like to see FZero on the 3DS

I wonder why Nintendo settled on the VGX for this supposed "big reveal." I mean, there always seems to be a lot of animosity towards the VGAs amongst gamers.

Figured they would've went with Nintendo direct, since they usually use that to substitute for the more mainstream public appearances and reveals.

The fact that Nintendo is appearing at the VGA's likely means a) they are announcing a game that will appeal heavily to the West, b) will appeal more to gaming enthusiasts, and c) it's probably something awesome.

I'm guessing Zelda, Metroid, or Miyamoto's new IP. Honorable mention: Star Fox.

Or were you referring to the additional two new IPs that Nintendo is working on at the moment, one of which is being spearheaded by Miyamoto himself?

Well, a lot of major games have had their reveals at VGA. Off the top of my head, Uncharted 3, Metal Gear Solid V, Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Dark Souls II, The Last of Us all got world premieres at VGA.

This is just a chance for Nintendo to reach an audience beyond its traditional demographic (i.e. the demographic they already reach with Direct).

I hope it's something I would actually be interested in.

Whatever they announce will be huge since they are desperate for sales. It's Nintendo's Plan B.

There is nothing else Nintendo fans don't know about, they've already announced the Super Smash Bros, Super Mario Kart, the new Donkey Kong Country and the new Super Mario already came out, So thats the extent of Nintendo's hits....except maybe another Pokemon or Metroid.

Let's just hope this announcement of theirs actually sells some Wii-U's otherwise, the console is a gonner.

They already have Mario released, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Bayonetta 2, and X coming up. Zelda on top of all that? Yeah, that would generate some interest.

Yes but how many people consider those games as rehashes? Personally I know they're not but when the general public see more mario,mario kart etc. they might just see it as "played those games already"

It wont be a new game, by "world premiere" they mean a new trailer not a new game, it's already been said its a "new look" at an upcoming game. That sounds more like a new trailer.

VGX will also feature Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime presenting a new look at an upcoming Wii U game.

i dont think itll be zelda. i dont expect to see a new zelda on the wiiu released late 2015 at the earliest. with WW and a link between worlds released recently thats the zelda dose done for a few years (well at least i hope so.....there is no way nintendo can overhaul the series and get it out in 18 months).

im guessing it will be whatever retro is working on. didnt they let slip that not all of retro were working on DK?

so what could retro be working on? i have an inkling starwing has been brought in for an overhaul.

that or its wiiu super fun happy time fantastic! hard to call these things with nintendo. given the venue though i think the former is more likely (albeit still a long shot).

World premiere is a trailer from a game that hasn't been shown. Like if they show a trailer for Zelda U or fire emblem x shin megami tensei, that's a world premiere because they are 0 gameplay trailers for that game.

I hope you're right because I'm with Kaze, I also was thinking its just a new trailer that would be "world premiere". Hope I am wrong.

I hope it's not Metroid. I know a lot of people want a new game in the series but personally I hate those games and I don't think they generate nearly as much hype as other Nintendo franchises or as many sales.

I hope it's a remake anthology of Fatal Frame I - IV built for the Wii U gamepad that lets the gamepad interface as the Camera Obscura.

Or a modern day Tetrisphere for Wii U and/or 3DS.

Either of those would make my day, but I'll settle for it being another Platinum-Nintendo-Sega collaboration.

But whatever it is I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

Yeah I think this will be difficult to capture again. People expected a realistic Zelda style, and were disappointed by the WW reveal (regardless of the changed opinions of that game). Furthermore, this was after the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, so a lot of people were introduced to fantasy epics. Then, we see a realistic Zelda which had not been spoiled by the internet, and it emulated this style of fantasy that people around the world were waiting for. It was just perfect timing for the reveal.
