Well. PC Gamer reports a much better performance than in case of Assassin Creed Unity.

PC Gamer article

PS4 version is 1080p and 30 fps in a mix of medium and high settings.

Meanwhile PC Gamer tested with unoptimized drivers it got following results

Radeon HD 7870 with 16GB of RAM and an AMD FX-6200 clocked at 3.8GHz, and the game ran at between 30-40fps on high settings at 1080p

PC Gamer's readers itself reported the next results:

I have an AMD R9 270x, 8 gigs of RAM and an A10 6800k clocked at 4.5 and the game runs between 40-60 fps on ultra but drops to 20-30 if alot of explosions occur. Also there was a shadow bug if I put HBAO+, the shadows were so dark if you entered it you didn't see a thing but it was patched.

AMD A10-6800K at 4.4GHZ with a Radeon HD7770, 8GB RAM, on Windows 8.1, I get a solid 30FPS on high and it rarely drops when driving or massive explosions.

PC 3 (back up junker): AMD HD7970, AMD Phenom IIx6 1100t black (4.1 OC), 8gb Ram, HDD, Win 7 High custom settings 35-40 fps, dips while driving.

PC4: (lappy for the lawls) Dell Laptop intel i7 cpu, integrated graphics, 6gb ram win 8.1 minimal custom settings 720p res 30+ fps.

Beating a game console isn't that amazing. A game console doesn't need 60 fps to play fine, playing at 30-40 FPS with a mouse is nearly unplayable. The standards are higher and no it's not fair for the PC.

and for anyone interested here are some benchmarks. Seems to be running great on AMD cards and even my 7850 pulls similar numbers to a gtx670 ( might have to postpone that GPU upgrade till Witcher 3 comes out after all)

I haven't measure the frames but on my R270 FX6350 is has allot of stuttering, and the frames look bad,i was trying to run high with AA off, but still was getting slow frames and screen tear.

I have a GTX 680 and it seems I'll get about 50fps...but my CPU isn't that great.....it's a i5 760.

So....not sure what to get....the PS4 version or the PC version.

Besides the overclock speeds, my laptop is pretty much exactly like PC3 in the OP.

Guess I'll be picking it up during the Steam winter sale.

even if its all ultra a 2 year old $130 Gpu ( aka 7850 ) runs this at 40fps average with some drops to mid 30's as opposed to 30 on PS4 ( whith a few drops to mid 20's according to DF )

@adamosmaki: A PS4 could run it higher then 30fps but on a console if you can't get a consistent 60 they will cap it at 30. You will never see a console game released at 40fps. Regardless it's a mix of high and Ultra not medium.

yet it drops down to mid 20's. Face it the low end consoles Cpu does not and will not fare better in the future in open world games/ games with lots of A.I. and big levels

More than it should though. Like many other games.

Either way, even if it upheld a steady lol 30fps on medium settings ...thats still far worse than PC version.

But to answer you considering a 260x a $100 Gpu and an i3 a $100 CPU ( the 2 most important parts determining performance ) can run the game at similar PS4 settings then yes you can build one for around $350-400 that can do that

That's not exactly right.

The problem is, consoles don't just use one spec. Shadow of Mordor was mostly high settings overall, but had low/medium vegetation on the xb1/ps4.

Also, we don't know if godrays or fur are active, which can eat some performance. Not to meantion which aliasing it's using, and how much of it. If any at all.

Plus, it's not a simple high/ultra thing. Some settings have very high instead of high, and an NVIDIA setting beyond ultra, has you see with teh benchmarks.

Someone like DF would have to analyze it down. On average, console games runs at "high" settings, which are usually the ones 1 settign bellow the highest, that being called ultra ot very high. In FC4, looking at performance, that's likely aswell, sicne NVIDIA settings eat performance alot. Maybe some on medium, low, maybe some on ultra.

Regardless, the game is mostly not maxed out at ultra on the ps4/xb1. Those benchmarks give 35-40fps with modest cards. So, with setting down abit, i'd say tehy can slightly beat consoles

I'm getting some slight stutter probably cpu related since I have a gtx 970. I find that to be strange, is a 2500k really bottlenecking a 970? The benchmakr posted above is showing 70-80 on ultra but I'm getting 60, with heavy dips in towns or driving very fast.

he drew first blood my mentioning ps4 in the title. and i call bs on ur specs, an i3 may be able to run the games currently being released but 2-3 years from now when ps4 is still going ur i3 will be in the garbage bin

A lot of people are reporting the same problem (haven't got the game yet, stuck in the mail) and it could e a bug. Far Cry 3 had some stutters to on release which got fixed later with patches. What's your cpu and gpu usage during the dips? I'll take it you have the latest nvidia drivers, released today and the 1.2 game patch installed.

Yeah, I'd also recommend switching to Borderless instead of Fullscreen, with Vsync off. It fixed vsync issues for me at least.

On the top of my head Dark Souls 2 on 360 runs at 40fps on less demanding places and goes all the way down to around 30fps on more demanding places/situations.

Consoles are using HRAA, a new post-process AA solution which apparently works quite well but still far from perfect, from what I've seen the PC doesn't offer that, a shame because it looks like a good budget solution, but the PC offers SMAA, MSAA and TXAA I believe.

Consoles also use a new AO method called SSBC, which again it's a cost-effective alternative to the superior HBAO+ and SSBC is available on the PC version.

Reading NVIDIA's tweaking guide it appears that consoles are not using volumetric fog/godrays which IMO make the game look much better.

Ubisoft's PC-exclusive Volumetric Fog technology, in contrast, uses post-process effects, color grading and the usual assortment of volumetric technologies to completely alter the appearance of the scene, even compared to 'Off', the solution used on consoles.

Ugh I didn't have time to download the game today on PC. Judging by the benchmarks I should be running in the low 100s at 1440p. Especially if I'm running AC Unity over 70 fps.

I'm happy with the X99 upgrade so far!

@DarthRamms: It appears it is, at the cost of horrific screen tearing and constant dips. Hence the reason almost no devs do it.

@adamosmaki: Wow crazy performance on the AMD cards, my R9 280x is punching above a Titan and just short of the 780ti. Nvidia need to get some drivers out.

I should be good for around 60fps with my FX6300 so i'll get it on my PC. It seems to look great graphically, it looks like the graphics of the original Crysis are pretty much standard now for mid to high tier rigs if more devs optimise as well as this.
