I would have bought it if they released it out on PC; since they never did, though, that's a lost sale for them.

I have a PS3, and I've seen the game played for a while. The game looks like ass on console and the game severely needs some tweaking of the HP system to be any fun; a lot of the fights look really tedious simply because of how much HP both you and the enemies have. Now if it were released on PC, I'd hop on board and find a way to mod the HP values of the game.

Haven't played it, but looks pretty standard to me, nothing worthwhile to capture my attention.

Pretty much, aside from the combat wich is fairly good it´s a sea of mediocrity in every other respect, believe me,you´re not missing out.

PS - Would also like to mention the game has 60+ hours of gameplay and just released an expansion with another 20+ hrs on top of it.

vanadiel242424

More than half of that is running back and forth between places.

No I think the game is pretty fairly rated. It has some amazing highs and horrible lows. I think if they had spent a couple more months ironing out what didn't work, it could have been a real gem. As it is, it's just a pretty good game with a lot of franchise potential.

No other RPG has such huge gorgeous monsters that move with such great animations that you can climb & fight at the same time dynamiclly. Being thrown off the side of a mountain because you climbed on a Giant Cyclop's arm (hoping to kill him) he swings his arm when your stamina is low and you go flying off a cliff to your death, it's pure dynamic action RPG gameplay. The world was static compared to Skyrim IMO. Skyrim has the better voice overs, music and world IMO. Dragon's Dogma has dynamic realtime gameplay that I haven't seen in any other action RPG and yes it is underrated.

One of the best RPGs this gen. REALLY needs a PC port. Capcom has made some stupid decisions, but ignoring PC for this is (almost) their worst one yet.

Well that's what happens when you don't release your game on PC, the console audience just isn't as big and since Skyrim came out around the same time the poor peasants could only afford Skyrim. I'm pretty certain Capcom will re-realse the game on Steam with some nice PC only extras any time now, maybe we need to make some more petitions to beg for the game though. Trollbait aside, I've played the game on my heating device, erm I mean Xbox 360, sorry, and I've loved every bit of it, amazing game.

Dragon's dogma artsyle never caught my eye. Dragons and monsters were bad designed. Compared to the souls series or Dragon Age I thought they were meh

Vatusus
Actually the artstyle is pretty good and not generic.... If you pay attention, the game's setting is very much Sicilian.....and the kingdom has a make up of a medieval Sicily. Its obviously Mediterranean setting an dclimate.

No, Skyrims soundtrack is not as good as Dogma's...definitely not Dark Arisens.... The last boss music for the DA final boss is incredible.

The storyline is also much better than Skyrim.

It's certainly more RPG than it is generic action game. Just because the combat is action oriented it doesn't automatically make it some generic hack and slash.

It's great, only parts that annoy me are the no fast travel, other than that I loved how you can climb on monsters like Shadow Of The Colossus and kill them.

Might have to check it out.

turtlethetaffer

You gotta man. I got Dark Arisen just yesterday. It's like monster hunter with excellent combat, the juggling from Devil May Cry, the mounting of collosal beast like in shadow of the colossus and job/class system from Final Fantasy.
skyrim is for chumps easily impressed with a rendered dragon.

It is a good game, I think my main problem was that I had already played Dragon Age: Origins before playing Dragon's Dogma. And comparing the latter to the former puts the game in a worse light than it deserves, Dragon Age II had the exact same problem.

One thing I've learned is that ratings aren't always a good indication of the quality an fun factor of a game. Try playing a game and then watching the reviews after you're done with the game. Before I started watching reviews, I didn't know that I should be looking out for dead pixels and glitches and such. I'd just play my game and enjoy it, now my standards are so high that I'm constantly in search of a flaw in every game I play. Even in Games like Uncharted 2 or MGS4.

I disagree. Dragons dogma is one of the worst put together rpgs I have ever played. Combat wasn't flushed out enough often suffered from glitches, same with the hole game in general. Things would disappear and reaper (People, monsters exc..) and frames would often drop well below 30.  It's an rpg and there is basically no story your main character doesn't even talk.  Mixed with a fast travel system that is completely absent in the beginning of the game (looks by design to be that way to convince you to buy what ever those stones are or gems to fast travel as they advertise them before you start the damn game.

This game came out as a broken mess a complete cash grab that wasn't finished. Worst RPG I have played in years, it is not underrated if anything it's overrated the games a piece of shit.

It's certainly more RPG than it is generic action game. Just because the combat is action oriented it doesn't automatically make it some generic hack and slash.

How is that even possible, when 99.99% of the game is its combat

It is certainly not a RPG in any way, just an action game with some RPG elements

If we call every game with minor RPG elements a RPG, then every single game could be called a RPG

Don't be a dumbass, DD is an action RPG. You take quests, you gain experience for kills and completions, you level up and become more powerful and distinct with each level, you customize your character extensively, there's a class and statistics system, there's elemental strengths and weaknesses, there's an inventory and money system. It's as much of an RPG as something like Dragon age or Dark Souls.

I might pick it up in the summer since everyone's saying it's better than TES V. I hated Skyrim on release because of the crappy combat. I loved Oblivion even though the combat wasn't great but Skyrim didn't improve it so it was unbearable in 2011.

The lack of fast travel and respawning enemies killed it for me.

There actually is a fast travel system implemented but you have to plan around it. It's not your typical game that guides the player at every turn.

the game has some glaring flaws and it's still considered pretty good. i'd say the game is just fine.
