Honestly Super Mario 3D World was a bit lame imo. Cat suit? 4 players? Touch controls? We all know Mario is best served alone. Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy were huge back in the day. Wii U needs a big Mario game to sell the systems. Don't you agree? And I'm not talking about that launch mario bro's game, whatever the name

No I don't think it needs another Mario game, its doing ok for now a few more brand new first party titles in its life span would be better.

Does the Wii U need it? No. The Galaxy games are superior to 3D World, so a third entry couldn't hurt.

Haven't ever played the WiiU's Super Mario, but I don't think the Galaxy series is any sort of savior. Neither game sold exceptionally compared to the top selling Wii Games. Not that I think it's a mistake to release new (and preferably fresh) Mario games as they still sell well over time. I just don't think there is much clamor for a Galaxy 3. Certainly not enough to declare it a "need".

3D World was better than Galaxy. The problem with it is that people associate it with 3D Land, when in reality it is what many people have been asking for, for years--Super Mario World...but a new one.

I think the Galaxy series is done with but would not be surprised if an HD compilation arrives on wiiu.

I'd take another 3D World over a Galaxy 3 or a NSMB

I liked Mario Galaxy better than 3D World or NSMBU, but those were still really fun games. I however, for whatever reason, couldn't get into Mario Galaxy 2. Still, couldn't hurt to vary the Mario games. We already got New Super Mario Bros U / Luigi U, Mario 3D World, now would be a good time to do Mario Galaxy 3.

Yes, 3D world was no where near as good as galaxy 2. Instead, it was a multiplayer player game that needed online co-op in the worst way, along with having a terrible camera that was designed for observing multiple characters on screen. On top of that, I don't know why Mario games are becoming worse and worse as fetch quests. Getting 3 stars, a stamp, and a golden flag per level are just mega time wasters, but you're forced to obtain them if you want to unlock champion's road, which was a cake walk compared to the perfect run. So yeah, give me galaxy 3, please.

3D World was outstanding. It wasn't exactly SMG2, but what game really is?

And I'll never get the beef with the cat suit, it was an awesome power up.

Does the WiiU need SMG3? Nah, not really. Do I need SMG3? Yes.

Though they should cut the bullshit and just call it Super Mario Universe.

I liked Super Mario 3D World more than the Mario Galaxy games and would prefer they stick with that direction or try something new rather than making another sequel to Mario Galaxy.

New Super Mario Bros Wii sold over twice as much as Mario Galaxy on the Wii, so how could you imply that another sequel to Mario Galaxy would sell more systems than the New Super Mario Bros sequel that released at launch?

3D World was awesome, but if by "that direction" you mean more multiplayer, then nah. Don't get me wrong though, I LOVED the multiplayer. I'm glad they did it. It's just that the level design hits some limitations and they can't get as crazy as they would in a single player title.

It doesn't matter to me if they go for another SMG, or something different, but I hope the next 3D Mario game is a single player one.

I'm surprised you give a shit about Mario.

And no, 3D World looks fine. If it's anything like 3D Land, which was phenomenal, I'm sure it's great. It was a completely different take on 3D Mario since SM64.

It doesn't need it badly, maybe end of next year it will but right now there are plenty of great games on the system, a few that just came out as well.

I'd rather have something all-new, but seeing the Galaxy stage in Smash in glorious HD (plus hearing the orchestrated music again) really has me itching for Galaxy 3 -- or at least an HD remake of the first two games.

No it doesn't. Many considered Galaxy 2 to be nigh impossible to top. So why would they ruin the legacy of a critically acclaimed franchise? 3D World was fantastic. They need to expand on that some more. Perhaps add onine coop and competitive modes. There they can also prototype a online Captain Toad game. Because we really know the best part of SM3DW was Captain Toad.

No, I did not mean more multiplayer. I meant how it felt like the classic Mario games where the goal was to get from point A to point B while overcoming all the obstacles in between, but in a 3D environment instead of 2D; I really enjoyed that and would be happy to see more Mario games like that. In fact, I would like to see other classic platforming franchises like Donkey Kong and MegaMan get a 3D game in that same style.

Have you even played 3D World? I can only remember one level that used the touch screen, there may have been another one or two on top of that. But I thought it was a great game, good amount of level variety and things to find.

WiiU is dead. Only creepy Nintendo freaks think that soft porn "10" is gonna save it. If they drop the price to what the hardware is actually worth ($50) it might have a chance.

His stance as a Nintendo fan is almost as believable as DSP's (and it isn't in any way).

No... They need SMG HD Collection. Only make SMG 3 if you can add something genuinely new to the series.

While I found 3D World to be good, but disappointing compared to the Galaxy games, I don't want them to just release another similar game.

If they make another 3D Mario game I would like to see a spiritual successor to the N64 exploration based open world platformers like Mario 64, Banjo, etc, as that is something Nintendo (and pretty much every other developer) haven't done in ages.

The combination of silliness (I love bright and colourful Nintendo games but when my main character is literally "meowing" at me, the dreaded "kiddy" word has to come up) and how much challenge and precision it took out of the platforming when you could miss jumps all the time but it didn't matter cos you could just run up the sides of platforms anyway.

You take video games too seriously. Especially when you nitpick about a character that wears: raccoon, tanooki, turtle, bee, frog, penguin, and flying squirrel costumes; and says "It's-a-me!", "Okey-dokey!", "Woohoo!", etc.

Haha, yeah.

But really though. If it were new to Mario games I could maybe see what the issue is.

But Mario has been dressing up as a furry since the NES days. We've had raccoons, squirrels, frogs, bumble bees, turtles, penguins... probably missing some I'm sure. So there goes your silliness.

As for the second point, power ups breaking the challenge.. I mean damn, where do I begin? Some people consider SMB3 and SMW among the best Mario games around. You can fly through entire levels in those games. As a matter of fact, you can beat SMW in 12 levels because of the broken cape ability. But hey, the cape is fun as hell, wouldn't have it any other way.

Just about every Mario game has at least one super cheap power up and the cat suit isn't even a high ranker as far as that's concerned. I'd even argue that the Tanooki suit in 3D World is the cheaper power up, but because it's a classic nobody says a word.

I dunno. I've seen a good share of complaints about the cat suit, but to me it fits right in with the rest of the series.

Sure, I don't even particularly mind the costume's appearance itself. Just him meowing at the camera every single end of level. I found that to be very lame.

As for the broken powerups, sure they've always been there. But this one affects every single jump.

I dunno. Maybe I am "taking this too seriously" (I'm not entirely sure what @93BlackHawk93 means by that) But it just wasn't a good powerup for me.

Edit: I should also point out, it's easy to avoid the cape in Mario World if you feel like regular platforming. I'd often need the catsuit in this one, so it's harder to get a "pure" platforming experience.

Haha, ok I can get that. The meow is a bit much. I guess eventually it became background noise, but it was weird as hell at first.

And yeah it does, but (as I edited into my previous post) I think the Tanooki suit might even be the bigger crutch. I know when it came to getting that final star, the Tanooki suit saved my ass.
