I mean all over youtube all I see is people saying that Nintendo won... why?

I mean I understand that Metroid Prime 4 has been asked for a long time and it's probably the equivalent of Sony announcing Final Fantasy 7 remake but still...... The game wasn't even shown. Just a title written. Is Metroid a megaton seller kind game?

Mario Odyssey we all knew was coming.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2... did the first one even sell that well on Wii that had a crazy large install base?

They did announce a Mipha amiibo

Serious though Nintendo, Sony, Bethesda and Ubi probably had the best showings. I was leaning for Nintendo, but now im thinking Sony may have pulled it with Skyrim VR, but I know not everyone is into vr :P

There really isnt a clear cut winner this year

Yes. They won E-3. The did not waste our time like the other two did. That alone should win them E-3.

It did for me. I think MS was second place for me followed by Ubisoft (tho Ubisoft could be second place too), fourth is Sony though I'm hoping they bring the heat at games con or their playstation experience event.

Yes they did. Most people look forward to these conferences for the surprises. Metroid Prime 4 and a Pokemon RPG coming to Switch were the biggest announcements of E3. Super Mario Odyssey looks like a GOTY contender and will release this year. Even that Mario Rabbids game ended up looking great. Plus other stuff like Xenoblade, Kirby, etc.

Sony showed an amazing looking Spiderman gameplay demo. Other than that there was nothing in there conference that really needed to be showcased at E3. I don't think Monster Hunter Worlds or Shadow of the Colossus reveals had the impact they were hoping for. Had God of War got a 2017 release date I think people would have liked their conference better but it didn't. The 2 games Sony has releasing this fall (Knack 2 and GT Sport) they weren't even confident enough in to show at the actual conference.

Microsoft's conference felt like watching a Steam conference. So many indies and PC ports. Their brand lacks any kind of identity and you will never get people excited to pay $500 for a console no matter how powerful it is.

If you are using that criteria then I guess yes...... Metroid Prime 4 did come out of no where and no one knew that was in production

Whoever showed the shit you like the most won E3.

But yeah, while I'm definitely interested in seeing Prime 4, and I do think it's a good thing they let fans know it's coming (after the relative dormancy punctuated by mediocrity they've been getting), a logo splash doesn't constitute winning for me lol.

I don't think it matters if it's a megaton seller or not, sales have no bearing on my enjoyment of a single player game, but simply showing a logo is even more lame than Sony showing cinematic trailers.

You can't win E3. That being said, Sony should have stayed home. That was embarrassing.

If there was a game shown that you liked and are going to buy, then you as a gamer won E3.

Gamers are the only ones who can win or indeed lose E3.

Yeah I get that this is SW, but damn gamers are getting dumber with each gen that passes :(

Yes, I certainly think they did. They had the most surprises. Especially that Metroid Prime 4 announcement. Omg, I literally stopped caring about anything else for several minutes, lol.

And then of course, the Metroid: Return Of Samus announcement was an absolute shocker for me! Two Metroid games!?!? *faints* xD

Their conference was good but I'm not sure if they won E3. Where are the 3rd party games? Even though the system can use UE4, is easy to develop for, it uses ARM and whatever else I might have missed about developing games for the system but the main reasons why the system isn't getting most of the 3rd party games is because the system is underpowered and the limit for the game cards are still 32GB.

I thought their E3 was mediocre at best. But all Nintendo had to do was announce one game from a dormant series and the fanboys went crazy.

They needed more. I think they just weren't ready for the amount of publicity the Switch was going to get and its popularity. The fact that so many 3DS games are still launching this holiday season shows they had their eggs in the other basket a little bit too long. Oh well, next E3 will likely be a complete onslaught for them. What they showed this year was good. It also showed they are paying attention to what people really want.

Am I the only one who doesn't give a damn about Nintendo and their games? I didn't even watch the Nintendo conference. I don't want a Switch or any console for that matter.

Hell, I never even played their games when I was a little kid.

All this talk about Breath of the Wild isn't enough to get me playing it.

I'm a huge Nintendo fan. They are my favorite company and I usually enjoy their E3 shows the most during most years, but I wasn't impressed with their show this year. I guess for some people they probably won just for announcing Metroid Prime, but I never liked the Metroid Prime games, so that announcement did nothing for me.

I honestly don't think there were any real winners this year, but if I had to pick, I found the most enjoyment in Sony's show this year.

This was the worst E3 ever.

Unless you have six arms and hemorrhoids popping out of your nose, the answer to this will usually be no.

But nah, plenty of people have zero fucks to give about Nintendo games.

And sure, I do think Nintendo gets a whole lot more hype behind a lot of their games than they rightfully should. Still, when they do deliver, they really knock it out of park. Very few devs out there are on Nintendos level when it comes to their best offerings.

Doesn't mean you'll enjoy it, but it's hard to deny that they have a black belt in game design.

No

Metroid Prime was a fucking logo. Mario looks great, but that's hardly a surprise. Nintendo makes killer Mario games, also water is wet. Mario XCom looked fun, but after that I sincerely did not care for the rest of their lineup. Kirby Games aren't good games, I understand who they are marketed towards, and that's fine, but they are shallow platformers. Ditto with how Yoshi is usually handled. Xenoblade 2 looks suspect as **** right now, as even in comparison to the first game the art direction seems like a step back.

After that what? Spla2n n Arms? Potentially really good games, but we knew about them shits.

I thought it was as boring as any other selection of games shown there, albeit yeah in the grand scheme of things I probably came out of E3 really wanting to play Mario Odyssey, but I was on board with that game when they first showed it.

Whaaaa? Art direction in previous games are so bad. Very bland, generic and ugly. I'm so glad they're doing something about it this time around.

Note: I'm referring to character models. Environments look great in all 3 games.

I'm going to summarize what's being delivered (that I care about)

Two new Metroids. Prime Freekin 4!
new Pikmin
new Pokemon
new mario platformer
new mario / rabbids crossover
zelda breath of the wild DLC
new Kirby
new Yoshi
new Splatoon
new fire emblem / dynasty warriors crossover
new fire emblem (stand-alone) for the switch
new radiant historia
new shin megami tensei
new xenoblade
new sonic (I know, it's multiplat but I want it)
new monster hunter
new IP: Arms (not excited personally, but it's on here to show Nintendo has a new Nintendo IP)

throw in Mario Kart 8 deluxe and Zelda Breath of the Wild that just came out and I'll say that I haven't felt this excited about Nintendo since 2010. Nintendo won me over massively for the first time in seven years with so many titles at once with almost all of them for sure releasing in the next year and a half

Nintendo showed more games I was interested in or looking forward too for certain.

Microsoft had a decent showing though and had 5 games I was interested

After that, I'm interested in the Dishonored II DLC and the Shadow of Colossus Remake could be cool.

They won for me because they announced and showed the most games I'm interested in

-Super Mario Odyssey (This game looks completely mind blowing)

-Metroid Prime 4

-Metroid Return of Samus

-Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga

-Splatoon 2

-Information on Pikmin 4 continues

-Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Ubisoft gets second for

-Beyond Good and Evil 2

at the end of the day E3 is a marketing exercise. its about hype. its about getting people excited for stuff. sometimes the stars align and you actually have some great games to show. sometimes you dont have anything to show so you bluff it (CG, announcements of far off games etc.). but if people are coming out of you conference and dont feel hyped then its not a good E3 performance.

numbers are pointless. i mean if you just want to talk numbers then the PC won....clearly. plenty of games from the MS, sony, ubisoft and EA conferences are all appearing on the PC. the Pc conference itself (which was a dam solid showing imho) also had a PC game or 2 to show. no other platform comes even remotely close in terms of numbers. but not many of those games have generated a huge amount of hype (though shadow of war has grabbed my attention out of nowhere). thats not to say they will be bad games. they could be brilliant (hopefully they are). hell a lot of the hyped games could be awful....if they even arrive. but E3 is about the hype.

MS didnt win. the X1X was a known quanitity. i dont think the price really helped (its not unreasonable but i suspect people were thinking within 50 of the PS4 pro). 4K and HDR are also a hard sell to a lot of people especially when trying to promote it over the internet to people watching on non 4K/HDR screens. they didnt both it or anything. we are not taking wiiu or PS3 levels of disaster here. but i dont think huge numbers of people are pumped for it. its pretty bad when new gaming hardware is announced and there isnt a huge amount of excitement.

sony were kinda in the same boat. nothing major. a lot of known quantities. we know how uncharted will play. we know how GOW will play. same with SOTC. spiderman looked good. spiderman AA with a bit more craziness is no bad thing. again it was fine. its just...not a lot of hype. not a lot of standing up in floods of tears over a FF7 remake. Monster hunter looks interesting but its a niche game with a very dedicated fanbase. sometimes announcements like that can be met with caution rather than hype. looks good though.

but a lot of noise is being made around they sheer craziness of mario odyssey, a very pleasant surprise of a metroid remake for the 3DS, MP4 (sometimes a logo is enough for a known IP to generate loads of hype), pokemon RPG coming to the switch (just a casual "by the way" is enough for that), mario xcom (everyone expected that to be complete rubbish but it won a lot of fans and the lead developer on that has gotten a lot of awws), BG&E2 (just CG, probably wont see it until the PS5 if it releases at all and there is no chance itll please the fans) and even far cry 5 had a good showing. its from ubisoft and nintendo that the noise is coming from after the show.

meanwhile sony are getting bogged down in a cross play argument. MS are getting bogged down in a lack of exclusives for the xbox argument. thats not hype.

now the only thing is that tis year could backfire on them down the road. next year you can bet everyone is going to ask "will we see BG&E2/MP4/pokemon on the switch?" and so on and if we dont then thats not going to be good for hype. it could leave their E3 presence very flat next year.
