Can we finally admit the Wii U is last generation now?

For the people, saying WiiU is next Gen that's like saying the OUYA (Indie game console coming out in June) is next gen also.

 

So as you can see Next gen is determined by power.

Your definition of modern is subjective though.

Minecraft is a more modern game than BF3 because it's more innovative. That's a legitimate stance. Hence your definiton completely falls apart.

The real reason why they are categorized in gens regardless of power is because those are the consoles that will be competing with each other.

What does innovation have to do with anything? This is only talking about technical specs, also we really can't be using the human definition of generations because they are set in stone unlike console generations.

My Wii U? Nothing really. All I have is Mario U and Nintendo Land. I had already paid off Rayman, but that stupid delay! ERRRRR... So nothing. Still a fun console and I love it :) E3 is going to be insane for the Wii U. Can't wait.ShadowDeathX

I'm pretty much the same. I had COD and Tekken but I sold 'em. NLand Scribblenauts and Mario U are the ones I own. 

I'm in the same boat as you. Wish there were more games, but there aren't. That'll teach me for getting a launch console, but I've plenty to play on PC so no worries for me. If Wonderful 101 is awesome then that will more than make up for it. 

I like the actual console and GamePad, it's great. I see potential for some really different games.

So as you can see Next gen is determined by power. PS4 is leaps above PS3 and Xbox 360 (Hint, Hint Next Gen)

WiiU is about the same as PS3 aand Xbox 360 graphically maybe a tad better (Hint, Hint Current Gen)

They didn't state it was determined by power either, they just felt WiiU wasn't next gen. It had more to do with the HD twins dictating the industry more. But that doesn't mean hardware, it means that's where most of the games are

I played the demo. Died at that one door with 4 zombies coming out of it since I didn't know how to use the push and swing mechanics well.

Then I got swamped at the entrance in that nursery with revived zombies somehow. Wasn't fun at that point. :P

May give it a go for real when it gets a price drop.

What is a generation?

A generations is just that a generation. It isn't defined by power, it is defined by release dates. Consoles and Handhelds released around 2011-2013 and possibly later will and are 8th gen. Consoles and handhelds released between 2004-2006 were 7th gen. Consoles and handhelds released around 1998-2001 were 6th gen.
