Bioshock: Infinite HYPE THREAD (56k) 9.0 @ GS! (96 @ MC)

How are we supposed to predict the review score when we haven't even seen any real gameplay footage?

Anyway, hm, Infinite has a lot of style, but the first game also had style...yet ended up feeling clunky and underwhelming. I'll wait and see with this one - there are a ton of things they need to improve on if they want to get my money this time around.

*Edit* No, seriously, what are we judging here? The artwork? The heavily scripted tech demo? The previous games in the series?

Awesome Awesome Awesome

AAA

Also,TC.

Good job leaving out the poll, counting only the people that post their hype.I like that.

freedomfreak

Me too... the polls should be left out or you'll get nonsense... Make people put their thoughts to the metal....

That's a Wes-s.tyle HYPE thread :P

I can't believe how easily that game is graphics kings. There isn't a game that looks remotely as good...not to mention while maintaining a different art style.
#56 Posted by TheGrudge13 (1165 posts) -
my most anticipated game of 2012 i'm expecting AAA
#57 Posted by Wanderer5 (25724 posts) -

AAA for me. Enjoyed Bioshock alot even through it went downhill a little after the big plot twist, but this is looking better with a more interesting setting. Day one buy for me.

#58 Posted by Wesrcks13 (1226 posts) -

New IGN Article, it's an interview and they talk about Elizabeth and the Songbird - http://pc.ign.com/articles/121/1213296p1.html

Game is still said to be releasing in 2012, that's good. :P

"First new footage from BIOSHOCK INFINITE since E3 will be shown at 2011 VGAs! Can't wait to see what @IGLevine has in store!"

Meh, I give it AA. That's just me though, I never really was a huge fan of Bioshock.
#60 Posted by Zassimick (6770 posts) -

Going for a solid 9.5 (AAA) from me. I would like to say AAAA but its so hard to justify predicting a game will get that kind of score when there are so few games that truly have.

Very nice thread too Wes. Reminds me how excited I am for this game. One of the few games that I will actually purchase at release next year too.

#61 Posted by johny300 (12494 posts) -
Great thread Wes my HYPE is AAA.

How Half-Life Influenced Bioshock: Infinite - http://www.gamespot.com/features/how-half-life-influenced-bioshock-infinite-6347428/?tag=footer%3Blink

^ Great Article, all the followers and ones that are highly anticipating this game, should definetly read when you have time.

The Gameplay Trailer that was shown @ the VGAs is also there, it's pretty short and it's all in-game footage. :)

My hype is AAA. I want AAAA sine the first Bioshock is the only game this gen I would give a 10 but this will most likely get 8.5-9 o GS.
#64 Posted by Ballroompirate (23279 posts) -

Looks as good as the first one if not better.

#65 Posted by Legacy-of-Todd (619 posts) -

AAA

Don't see it scoring lower then a 9.0

#66 Posted by Stevo_the_gamer (43074 posts) -
My hype is AA. 8.0 prediction
#67 Posted by Zurrur (1701 posts) -

Didn't like Bioshock, this doesn't look much better but i give it solid A

#68 Posted by madsnakehhh (14596 posts) -

Great Thread, i'm really looking forward to this game...and i don't play FPS.

#69 Posted by SolidTy (44450 posts) -

Nice thread! My personal HYPE may be higher, but GS AAA HYPE seems fair.

Still, just wanted to zip by and drop a line on a great HYPE thread for a neato game coming soon. :P

I still remember Buying my shining copy of Bioshock C.E. for Xbox 360 back in 2007, I believe. This game is made by that team, I'm excited! :P

#70 Posted by lamprey263 (24420 posts) -
I'll say AAA to be safe, not much seems to get AAAA these days, but I am pretty stoked for this anyways, they've been working on this not too long after the original Bioshock released, it'll be about 4 years of development when it's done so I'm hoping for a polished gem when it's released. I think they're taking as much time as they need with this one. Anyhow, nice thread TC, you obviously put lots of work into it.
#71 Posted by padaporra (3432 posts) -

This is solid AAA material. That is my hype.
.
This game looks great, my only sorrow is: no Shodan.

#72 Posted by AmayaPapaya (9029 posts) -

I think it will get AA. 8.0 or 8.5.

#73 Posted by archvile_78 (8382 posts) -

Excellent thread, my hype is AAA.

#74 Posted by killa4lyfe (3849 posts) -

AAAA. It probably won't get that but for me, it probably will be that good. I like it when shooters actually care about their characters, world and plot instead of just "WOW moments" all the time. This seems to have everything. Cannot wait. :) P.S. Pretty much any FPS game is in some way influenced by half-life, it's just how it is. :)

#75 Posted by Wesrcks13 (1226 posts) -

New "Heavy Hitters" series will start for Bioshock: Infinite, and here is #1 (Motorized Patriot, Introducing a new antagonist)

#76 Posted by TH1Sx1SxSPARTA (1882 posts) -
AAA, my most anticipated game this year
#77 Posted by PinnacleGamingP (5208 posts) -
looks like PS3 is lead platform for development, the logo is listed first. bioshock was meant for ps3 anyways not 360 PC. Hype AA
#78 Posted by silversix_ (14984 posts) -
Looks amazing. When you compare the awesome art style of Infinite to the modern shooters we get every year its just lolz. AAAE for sure and i even think it'll be a 9.5. Do they use DX11 on pc or jusr DX9?
#79 Posted by PatchMaster (6013 posts) -

AAA all the way

#80 Posted by R3FURBISHED (10652 posts) -

My prediction:

This game will be awesome/10

#81 Posted by skrat_01 (33767 posts) -
Really, really looking forward to it. Been on the fence for a while and Bioshock was a mixture of strong and flawed, but Infinite really is looking like something fresh and interesting in the genre. We need more games like this.
#82 Posted by Wesrcks13 (1226 posts) -

Heavy Hitters #2

Heavy Hitters #3

Enjoy :)

Agreeing with other posters, isn't this a tad early? Other then that, nice hype thread! BTW why didn't ya mention B2? I actually really enjoyed B2, the only problem i had was it was branded as a "games for Windows live" on PC/Steam which long story short gave me a crap time in just getting to play the damn game.dracolich55
Because Bioshock 2 wasn't developed by Irrational Games. It was developed by 2K Marin.

Irrational Games created the Bioshock series and they are developing Bioshock Infinite.

For the hype I think I will say AAA.

I would probably be more interested in Bioshock Infinite if it was made by 2K Marin.

It looks great on the surface, but the studio that is currently Irrational has not proven they can make a game that plays well. The last great game with their name on it was SWAT 4.

#85 Posted by Assassin_87 (2314 posts) -

My hype for this is AAA, definitely. I can't see it getting lower than a 9.0.

#86 Posted by killab2oo5 (13620 posts) -
@_@ I want it more than anything in the WORLD! But not until I beat Bioshock 1 and 2. ;; First ones too scary.
#87 Posted by Fireboy78 (524 posts) -

AAA in here. AAAA for me. ;)

I know that, but its still a Bioshock game, just as the first 2 Deus Ex games were mentioned in the HR hype thread but were developed by Ion storm, not Eidos Montreal?

Well, those two games (maybe not IW as much) informed the making of Human Revolution. I think Levine pretends that Bioshock 2 doesn't exist and won't be taking any cues from it.

#90 Posted by The_Capitalist (10838 posts) -

I am really excited for this game. I think it will garner an 8.5 minimum around here.

Pity it's coming out in October, though. Why not the summer?

Sometimes tells me did, I heard theirs dual wielding guns and vigors (or whatever its called) like the B2 MP, and the entire part after Andrew Ryan in B1 was not not as good as the first 2/3 of the game. Plus, the B2 endings were MUCH better so... I dunno. I love Levine and B1 is better than B2 but there some things that could have been better. Also, how did 2k marin even get to make B2? Doesn't Irrational own thew IP?

I think since they are owned by 2K Games 2K Marin got to make it because Irrational Games (Or at the time 2K Boston and 2K OZ) were working on Bioshock Infinite since after they finished Bioshock. Then 2K games wanted a new Bioshock quicker then Irrational could've made one so they got 2K Marin that was made up of some of the staff of Bioshock 1 to develop Bioshock 2.

New Heavy Hitters video.

Heavy Hitters Part 4: Siren

#94 Posted by WTA2k5 (3997 posts) -

I just hope it's not as heavyhanded as the original BioShock. That game could've had a really interesting story if it didn't have numerous overwrought explanations of everything that's going on.

Looking forward to this game, even though I hated the original Bioshock.

I'll rent, and if I really dig it, I'll buy!

Really? Do you think Andrew Ryan's speech in which he explains pretty much everything that has happened in the game up to that point and starts shouting the main theme of the game at you several times is is a brilliant and subtle moment in the history video game storytelling?

I'm with you. The whole game I had trouble suspending my diesbelief because it was so poorly written. I did enjoy enough of it to push through to the big reveal, but after the "OBEEEEEEEY!" speech, I said "meh" and gave up.
