Given that Tencent is China based, I'll probably ignore Lightspeed games. The only thing from them I'll probably end up touching are games using Unreal engine 4/5 as there probably won't be a way around that unless giving up gaming.

Wow, the amount of dislikes...

...I get there's a lot of backlash against Tencent (which I'm not really a fan of either), but the game deserves a fair chance to be judged based on its own merits. It's no Cyberpunk 2077, but it looks fairly promising.

I won't say I'm hype for SYN but it does have me intrigued and so with that, I'm looking forward to how it plays when its release.

I am willing to give it a chance, my fear is it will loaded with micro-transactions and some sort of malicious software or something that runs in the background, collecting data on you.

Did they also buy your company? They seem to do that a lot.

@rzxv04: Yeah, it wasn't anything hostile tho. Tencent just wants to expand their SEA market, and so my previous company decided to sell the assets(us, machinery, IPs) to Tencent.

Best of luck. I was told this is going to be far more common everywhere else this new century. Wish I had the patience to learn their native languages.

I wonder if someone says, “I won’t buy anything made by black people,” sound racist?

Probably right.

But if you say, “I won’t buy anything made by Chinese people,” it’s not racist huh?

@TheGrudge13: well EA are just greedy. Tencent are required by law to be interved by the chinese government and have full time government officials working for them.

I have even received official messages

From their wechat platform telling me that discussing goverment related topic in wechat groups will lead to my arrest and the arrest of the creator of the group.

From my point of view i simply dont care about ea, but when it comes to tencent i would prefer their headquarters would burn in a fire and their servers are taken down by an earthquake.

And as china becomes more powerful these censorship threats will also happen to you guys living outside of china. So know its happening and know what you are supporting.

I predict the world will support it no matter what happens because it will lower the price of making games and bring more profits to supranational corporations.

Well they should at least know what they are supporting. Just don't think they wont dare to do in on the west

They already did that to the nba, they did it to several European luxury brand, they kidnapped a Swedish citizen, they punish Australia for a coronavirus research. They cant arrest you there, but they can punish you economically or kidnap you if you are too much of a problem.

As long as there are profits for said corporations and cheaper goods for the majority. It is what it is.

@rzxv04: given how expansive they are being with their authoritarianism its either going to be complete submission to emperor xi or world war 3. I honestly think so and i don't support or romaticize war. I just don't see them taking a live and let live approach.

They ended in a comparatively much better economical position after the virus. USA, with all due respect, lacks coherent leadership and no other country can rival them. So I don't see things getting better soon.

@kadin_kai: I live here. All large companies are required to have communist party personnel stationed at their facilities. With tencent its specially the case as they own wechat which is the main online communication application in china and the largest electronic payment method. Tecent actively participate in suppression of political speech through this app.

Of course! There are more private and public companies in China than the US!

The China you’re thinking about was in the 1990s!

There is a clear list of companies in China that are state run:

Ha! No I have never received a message from the government threatening arrest.

I work in the Projects department of a Bank, I have worked in many areas of China including Guangdong, Sichuan, Yunnan mainly on oil and gas projects for years.

I have never received such a message from the government and I speak about pretty much all the sensitive topics!

Have you got a screenshot or do you need time to find one on the web?

(Seems like I cannot paste Chinese Characters on Gamespot).

Cybersec law right? They're probably ahead of the game. It's the likely future for the entire world. Everything is probably headed to that, technocratic, surveillance states, but humanity will survive probably. Big private counterparts seem to be actively suppressing as well but I am not sure.

Reality is many need your resources and many more are willing to do whatever it takes. The next century is probably yours and the world will likely comply. There'll always be some spark with these transitions. Please have patience with some of us.
