I think GTA is okay, but IMO I think it's overrated. I've played Vice City and San Andreas and yeah, they were fun, but they didn't really pull me in and I couldn't play them for more than 20 minutes.
I think I need to expound a bit. It WAS a great series, but the formula has grown more than a little stale. While there are themes that make it very enjoyable (Vice City), it is still the same old thing. The series is in a drastic need of a next-gen overhaul, and I'm doubting if GTA4 will do just that.
I think GTA is great and is only as fun as you make it out to be. I never really got into metroid prime thought the game was quite bland and dull for an FPS IMO. Maybe they make some changes with the Wii version to allow better gameplay.
