4D graphics? The PS3 can't even beat 360 graphics

While PS3 graphics are "only" equal to 360's i find it funny how Wii owners are looking for ownage over PS3 graphics ...

I do believe that PS3 is only using 20% percent of it's potential, so was 360 when it first came out, Gears of War is the only game that pushed the 360.

No, that's not really correct.

Firstly, games have been in real time for years, so to qualify a console as having 4D graphics would be like announcing it worked with TVs.

Secondly, if you accept the 4th dimension is time (and time is not the universally accepted vector for the 4th dimension), you'd need to be able to move throughout that dimension at any point at every single point in the game.

For example, 2D games where you can walk up into doors are utilizing minimal 3D elements, but they aren't 3D. Similarly, modern games are using minimal time elements (if you accept time as the 4th dimension) but aren't 4D games.

Really, the whole claim was based to play on an understanding from casual gamers that 3D was the progression from 2D, so naturally we must be heading to 4D.

Nah, time travelling games like Chrono Trigger, Prince of Persia, Ocarina of Time or Day of the Tentacle only allow you to travel at pre-determined and artificial points. It's like saying Donkey Kong Country 3 is 3D since there's a level when you can walk on seperate ledges behind and in front of a waterfall.

That's why the whole 4D thing is just a play on words to trip a mental association with the leap from 2D to 3D. The 4th dimension, if we accept it as time (which as I've said not everybody does scientifically, the definition of 4D is up in the air), is ridiculously impractical.

If the PS3 used a user friendly programming system like C++, then im sure it would pass the X360 in terms of graphics. But seriously no devs really want to develop for the system and finding it extremely difficult to do so. But as time passes and they get better with programming everything then hopefully the PS3 will get some great looking games.
