I'm not sure how many of you have had moments in sports where you have cried, but I'll gladly admit that I've had a few moments. Please feel free to list your events and what the significance of the event was. These are mine...in order.

  • Dale Jr. winning the Pepsi 400 in 2002 at Daytona after his dad's death (I'm not even a big NASCAR fan and I cried during this one. I was in 6th grade when it happened)
  • The Packers losing to the Eagles in 2004 in the playoffs (The 4th and 26 game. It was the best the Packers had done in my lifetime that I could actually remember. I was just a little to young to remember the Superbowl win against the Pats)
  • Brett Favre retiring (I received the news at school and it took a lot to hold my emotions in that day. I didn't want to cry at school and have everyone asking me why I was so sad. Once I got home it all came out)

I'll be perfectly honest, when the Sens lost in the Cup Finals to Anaheim last year I cried.

I also nearly cried watching services and things for both Sean Taylor and Luc Bourdon. :(

  • Oregon State beats Oregon in the Civil War in 2007 (Football)
  • Oregon State beat #2 USC (2006)
  • Oregon State whooped Notre Dame in Fiesta Bowl! 2001 I think.
  • Seahawks lost in the Super Bowl.
  • My first Oregon State football game.
  • My first Seahawks game at Qwest Field.

That's all I can think of...

Me, neither.

Though Dale Earnhardt dying was pretty sad, and I stopped watching NASCAR after that (I currently don't watch it out of boredom, though).

Only 3 times:

After the Lakers 3 peated I couldn't help but feel a little emotion over it. It wasn't full blown crying or anything though.

When the Eagles lost in 2004 to the Patriots in the Super Bowl. A few tears streaked, depressing day.

Watching Sean Taylors funeral service:(

Im more likely to cry watching those touching espn stories about hope and stuff like the one where the husband and wife were both trying to become olympic runners and then the husband died and the wife is trying to win for him, or the one where the soldier dies and his family donated all the soccer balls to Iraqi kids. But ive never cried over sports, the closest was when Grady Little left Pedro Martinez in against the Yankees in 2003 ALCS, and thereby blew the game

Honestly, the only time I can remember is recently when ESPN did one of those stories they do about the high school basketball team whose coach died and then they went on to win the championship that year. They way they told the story was magnificent.

I didn't even read this post, but I was thinking about the same story. I got choked up when I saw this. It's a sad story. Check out the story here: Summerville Remembers Fallen Coach Louis Mulkey

Make sure you go to the game when they raise his number to the rafters and give him one last hurrah lol. Do you think he has another year in him? I think so.

I heard he was coming back for one more year, but that was on hockeybuzz so i don't know if i can trust them. Idk the fact he is taking so long worries me. He can definately play at a high level for one more season if not more.

The moments I've cried from sports I was actually playing myself. Got hit in crotch hard enough by pitch that bounced off the plate on a foul tip to hurt my nads even though I had a cup on. That definitely made my eyes water.

I cried when the Packers lost the Superbowl to Denver, it was the worst feeling I had ever had in my life to that point.

I also shed a few tears in my car this spring when they were playing bits of Brett Favre's retirement press conference, I knew that it was inevitable from the day he announced his retirement but it still took me by surprise.

Wow people crying over sports. Now I know why ESPN is so successful. Bunch of Dramaaaaaaaaa Queeeeeens, it is only a game and there are a lot more worthy reasons to cry about than sports. If you are crying over sports then I dont know what you will do when some real reason actually come along. I dont understand how something that is suppose to be about pure enjoyment can bring sadness.

Falcons vs. Eagles NFCCG

There was a little blind kid named Timmy who sang the National Anthem before the game. I swear, everyone in the stadium was crying.

But not as bad as Michael Vick was crying after Hollis Thomas LEVELED his ass at the goal line :)

I dont remember much about the situation. A kid got fouled at the end of the game and had to hit 2 out of 3 free throws to tie the game. He was all cocky about and he missed the last 2. The kid fell on the ground in tears. It was the saddest moment in sports i ever saw.

I was just laughing when app state won

I have heard of tears of joy but if a sport gives you tears of joy then that is kind of sad in my opinion. Sports dont make that joyful to cry about it. Like I said there are better more important things to cry about than a game. The worst part about it is that you dont even know these people and you cry over their acheivement but you are never that happy for you own family or friends. Plys to be honest Im not a girl and if you were one of my friends and started crying over a sporting event, the rest of us would probably laugh in your face and then my beat you for a while. lol. Be a man.

I've never cried watching a game but I have cried numerous times playing in games (highschool football), and Im not ashamed to say that. If you cant see the emotion or joy that goes into giving your time and support into people that you spend seemingly endless amounts of time with, good and bad, then I feel kinda sad for you.

I cant wait to experience it again in college.

The closest to crying I've been is when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in 1998 and Steve Yzerman handed the cup to Vladimir Konstantinov and then again when Yzerman retired

I like how crying is a symbol of weakness, when it really shows strength. Look at Michael Jordan when he cried after his first NBA championship. You obviously aren't an athlete so you have no idea how much work you have to put in to even be decent at any sport, and to get a reward like that, it shows that all those hours of hard work finally payed off.

But yeah i'll bite, I cried when the Panthers lost in SB 38, really thought that was our year, then we just had it taken away at the last second. And when the Hornets moved away from Charlotte that was pretty tough too, and when they demolished "The Hive" which was the Hornets arena. So Sonics fans, I feel for ya.

Like I said there are better more important things to cry about than a game. The worst part about it is that you dont even know these people and you cry over their acheivement but you are never that happy for you own family or friends. Plys to be honest Im not a girl and if you were one of my friends and started crying over a sporting event, the rest of us would probably laugh in your face and then my beat you for a while. lol. Be a man.

So Sonics fans, I feel for ya.

thinking the same thing, that guy has probably never played a sport in his life
