Republicans have wasted tax dollars doing that for decades and came up with nothing substantial. However, we've lived through the Trump era and there is something there. And politicians, if they've broken the law, should be prosecuted. They are not above the law.

Hillary was never prosecuted for Election Tampering in the 2016 election. Andrew Como was never charged for the deaths he caused during covid. The people who buried the Hunter Biden Laptop story have never been charged with election interference. The Clintons Charity was neve investigated for corruption as it should have been. Obama has never been investigated for stopping the investigation of his Fast and Furious gun program that supplied the Mexican Cartels with weapons one of which was used to kill a border agent.

I question why anyone would vote for him. His history is there for all to see. He doesn't uphold the Constitution which presidents most definitely should at a minimum.

We know what the charges are based off of. The previous NY DA and the federal government didn't even bother trying to charge Trump for it because even if the number on his taxes was wrong, it's a misdemeanor that's past statue of limitations. This new NY DA is going through the trouble to reopen the case, artificially raise the crime to a felony from a misdemeanor to get past statue of limitations.. to claim Trump committed campaign finance law violation because his attorney paid Stormy on an NDA agreement.

In my opinion this NY DA is only doing it in hopes of boosting his own profile by going after Trump.

@sargentd: First no one is above the law. Second, indictments from the Grand Jury come after Americans impaneled hear evidence. The DA does not make those indictments. 23 Americans did.

@LJS9502_basic: The DA is the one who opened this dead case back up. The indictment doesn't even matter, the trial is what matters because the juries haven't heard from the defense. Grand Jury's are typically easy to indict for that reason, there is no defense attorney present.

But his cultists die-hard defenders are already crying that the real crime is the fact details are getting leaked, and Trump can mic drop his defense here and now according to them.

Maybe Trump's last best effort to put up any kind of legal defense might be a Hail Mary play to have his lawyers assert he isn't mentally fit to stand trial.

I saw a Hannity clip a few days ago where Hannity threw Trump a softball about Trump's past stances on Presidents needing to take cognitive tests and to comment on Joe Biden's mental state... and Trump would have on any previous occasion total ripped for hours on Biden and claim himself the most mentally fit person on earth, but he actually declined to answer saying it was inappropriate. I found that VERY peculiar. And I can only fathom one explanation as to why he'd walk on eggshells over such a question. Advice of his lawyers? Well, what purpose could that serve? To assert he isn't mentally fit to stand trial is the only thing that comes to mind.

^^ was listening Judge Napolitano talk to a NY trial attorney about this.

Was one of the first things they discussed in this conversation.

Apparently this can sometimes be the prosecutor making multiple charges to hype up the crime.

So if the prosecutor is trying to charge Trump with a felony on campaign finance violation for example, he could possibly count every time Cohen paid Stormy, count every check he wrote, every paper signed ECT, to make the crime seem more significant. Even if it doesn't prove the crime being alleged. From my understanding stacking charges like this is typically a sign of having a weak case to try and sway a jury. But hey I'm not a lawyer, I found this to be a very informative conversation so I thought I'd share it with you. 🤙
