But I will say that if Trump gets indicted on this, you bet your bottom dollar that will rile up the right behind him. Trump has nowhere near the buzz or momentum of 2015 (a year out from the election). This will be a catalyst.

This charge will go nowhere. And even if it did, the optics - in any event - will be a political hit job against a guy who remains untouchable legally.

With all of the things that Trump could be potentially charged with, the characterization of a payment to a porn "star" is irrelevant. Not only that, but the first potential charge out of the gate is this one? Instead of any of the potential others? Just screams "we have nothing so we tried something."

If Trump was looking for something to bolster his run, this is it. Counterintuitive, sure. Welcome to divisive politics 2023.

I like DeSantis. He's doing a great job in Florida. I'd like to see them debate as well.

Heres the deal though. People in the media try to hype up the Trump vs DeSantis thing as some big internal conflict. But the thing is, most DeSantis supporters also like Trump and most Trump supporters also like DeSantis.

My personal take, let DeSantis continue to do the work he's doing in Florida and build up his profile while Trump finishes out a second term. DeSantis hasn't even finished his full first term as governor. That would give DeSantis 8 years as governor in Florida and he can run for president come 2028.

But that's what I would want personally. Other people for sure would see DeSantis as their preferred choice, DeSantis is the only other candidate besides Trump that could get the nomination.
