I want to upgrade my 32" 720p to to either a 42" 1080p or Vizio 32" 3D 1080p both are about $500. I really want to know is 3D worth it from someone who has a 3D tv that they use with PS3? I don't have a lot of money since I recently just graduated from college but I can barely afford this thanks!

i would just get the bigger TV while you will probably enjoy the 3D alot right away, you will wish you had the bigger TV later, I mean like a month or two not a long time from now.

Its really personal preference so its really up to you. I would try and get a 3D T.V demo at a shop and see what you think and then make your decision.

before you buy the vizio 3d tv be warned!!! me and my buddy just both bought vizio 46in 3d tvs and the ps3 wouldnt recognize them as 3d compatiable.they were 3d we tried hundreds of times for days to get the ps3 to recognize it and had to return them. i got the panasonic 50in plasma3d and my buddy got a sony led 50in. and the ps3 recognized them instantly! another thing the vizio3d tvs(passive 3d) even though say full hd when in 3d there only 960x540 for each eye. instead of 1080p per eye be careful right know theres alot of false info about 3d right now.

I can't say you should' but if you can afford it, well it would be a cool option to have. Today's 3D tech is awesome.

I'm holding out for the Optoma GT750 projector. Comes out in October, and has a very short throw (meaning you can set it close to your wall or screen and still get a huge picture). It's a bit above your aforementioned price range at 799, but if a projector is an option for you I'd go that way for games and movies, then get a smaller 2d tv for regular TV viewing and some light gaming. The 3D effect will be way better with a larger screen. Good luck!!

I just got a 46" Samsung 3D TV and I love it. I have Black Ops, Mortal Kombat and the newest Motorstorm and I am have been very impressed with them in 3D. I would stay away from Passive 3D though if you get one.

If you are going to buy a new TV you might as well get a 3DTV but I wouldn't get a Vizio.

I've been running on an HD LCD for several years, first with a 27" LCD, then a 42". I'd opt for the 42" 1080p TV. 3D is nice, but a bigger full-HD picture is preferred. In fact, I'm starting to look around for 47" deals to upgrade that 42"....

Deals can be had out there, and they will probably only get better as we get closer to Christmas.

Two things:

1) Stay away from Vizio tv's. Buy a smaller brand name instead like Sony or Samsung over a large Vizio.

2) Steer clear of 3D for a while as the tech is still in its infancy and its future is not very stable. There are multiple 3D formats still under trail and others in develpment , so my advice is to wait and see what dominates the market further up the road,

Id go for the 3D. I did infact. But, this has alot to do with my personal hatred of massive screens. What people dont realise is that the bigger your screen, the worse the picture. My 40'' looks vastly superior to any 60'', and Id put money on the table on that one.

You have to take into consideration the hidden costs of wanting a 3d setup. You will need the proper glasses, a good quality tv, and 3d movies cost more than regular or blu-ray. If it's just for games, some will look good, but not all are optimized for 3d. I do hear that Mortal Kombat looks sick in 3d though and I would get one if given the chance. Just be aware.

that's wrong, it depends mainly on the distance to the Tv and how you set it up. If anything, bigger and expensive Tvs are better because they have a higher chance of having better chips for upscaling etc.

Thats quite an assumption to say bigger TV's have better upscaling chips, and an incorrect one at that. the market is flooded with cheap tech so as to be affordable, this means big tv's with crappy pictures. the quality of a picture has nothing to do with the distance you are from the set, it is the same quality if you are the other side of the world from it.

I have the vizio 47" theater passive 3D tv and love it. Ive got 15 pairs of glasses that I brought home from the movies, The realD ones. Yes the resolution is less but it doesnt matter with this size, it looks amazing. Best $868 Ive ever spent. When In 2D the 1080P looks great.

I have a 52 inch sony 3d. It was cool at first, but i hardly ever use it anymore. I dont know if im just lazy and dont want to put the glasses on or if i just dont care. Movies is awesome. Games hurt my eyes more. I dont know if im just focusing more or what. Its hard for me to see the crosshairs in fps games.

Oh if you do i say wait til sony's new 37 inch one comes out. Cuz when your playing a game with a friend in co-op you both see two different things thru the glasses. Like your own personal 37 inch screen for the both of you. It may be smaller though i dont remember the exact size.

I agree with MK but it is quite good nontheless. Crysis 2 though is not real 3D. It has three fixed layers (HUD, weapon, world) with only minor variations in the world layer in a linear fake offset - total crap:

I say get a 3d, if you tight on money then save it. Bigger is better, but big tv for gaming sux, good for movies though. I had a 61" samsung then i downgraded to 46" and now im playing on 23" pc monitor.

I dont have a thing for small tv just games do look better on a smaller set. Ill be getting a 40" 3d which would be perfect for game.

I'd wait 50 or 100 years until you get real 3D (3 dimensions), what is now is a trick of the eye making 2 dimensions screen look like things are in 3D, it's called relief if a true word is to be used

You get what you pay for. A cheap 3D LCD Vizio is going to give you a crap picture. Plus, in general, 3D works best on plasma televisions.

checkout this site , you'r obviously wrong: http://www.3dtested.com/3d-ps3-games-list/ together with the upcoming titles its actually a lot , and if you add movies its definitely enough to invest slightly more , i you hate 3D though nothing will convince you

The 3D t.v.s Are pretty cool. And besybuy sells some good ones that are 1080p for a decent price. I don't see why not. 3D is not going away as much as some folks would like it too. And lots of movies and animation are being released on 3D.

lack of games is a problem at the minute. a fair few games support it, but many of them are either not very good, the 3D is poor or both. The list of good games with good 3D is slim......

AMEN!!! Toshiba was supposed to release a glasses-free 3D television last year but I guess it got delayed. If you have to get a tv now I'd go with a Samsung LED. They have the best picture by far. I work for the cable company so I see HDTV's all day, everyday.

You should go check it out first in a store. Dont listen to those guy that said wait for a better or glassless tv, you'll be waiting forever. By then something better will be in line and glassless will be the new thing so very expensive.
