Ill stick with my 2000. Only PSP n00bs buy 3000s.-OathI guess the same could have been said about you a year ago, when the 2000 was first hitting the shelves.
I have stuck with my PSP 1000 thru thick and thin (or phat and skinny) and I have always been happy with it. I recently decided to find out what I have been missing and buy a 3000 series. When I compare them, its kinda like comparing an American made car to a foreign import. They both do the same job but the import is a little better:
The 3000 is much lighter, even more so than I expected. As far as the screen, I don't want to use the word brighter because to me the screen has more clarity and more color depth than the PSP 1000. I may be mistaken, but the 3000 also seems to last longer with the 1200mah battery it comes with. My 1000 has an 1800mah battery, and I have one of the only true 3600mah batteries that ever came out in stores. It gives me close to 20 hours of gameplay, but it makes my American car feel like an American SUV since it is about twice the width of the original battery. So I say the 3000 is better because it makes my games feel portable again!
[QUOTE="coddy41"]the psp 1000 is the best.riariasesThats a completelly stupid answer. Anyone who voted for the 1000 is either unknowing or stubborn to even try the newer version. Not necessarily, there are a few people out there who just don't find the slim PSP units comfortable in their hands. While I believe the features of the 3000 are top notch, I don't like the shiny plastic all around the system (piano black)
Okay, so the 1000 is the first PSP. The least ammount of features and no improvement. If you like to download games illigally, the 2000 is for you. If you really don't care and just want the best, as in the most improved then yeah the 3000 is for you. And okay, because you don't like the plastic on the 2000 or 3000 doesn't make the 1000 better. I agree, the plastic sucks but the improvent makes it slightly superior. So just because you own a 1000, and not the newer model, that doesn't make it better.riariasesI agree. unfotunately, there are jut features in the 1000 that I preer over the 2000/3000. For example, - The matte backing - The grips - The ability to have a larger battery (1800mah or 2200mah) without having to change the battery cover At the same respect, I feel that the 3000 is a very solid system with the better battery life, the reduction in weight, and the wider color gamut, which can be turned on and off. If you check my blog, I've actually been considering a 3000 as of lately, but unfortunately, I just can't bring myself to swing the $169.99 when I have a 1000 in mint condition.
Ok wait up. There are no grips on either of the PSP's. They all feel the same. I've never owned a 2000 but it is the same shape as the 3000. Who the hell cares? If you're actually worried about too short gameplay to not just get a car charger or something, and you go and buy a whole new battery which is uneeded for like 20-40 bucks, you can't be that cheap to pay 5 more bucks for a battery cover that fits. And for all the new things a 3000 gives, its worth it to throw away matte black. My advice, sell your old PSP 1000 on kijiji for 75-100 bucks and a couple games for 20-30 bucks. You'll be satisfied. I personally gave up on my 1000... twice. My brother got one when it first came out. What a waste of 300 bucks. It had absolutelly no games or anything. So we sold it. I got one later when it was 200. Another waste. But the 3000 im keeping and only because I actually have something to do on it. 'Cause since the PSP library is crap even now, all the extra features keep me hooked. Plus some new games are coming out so im not so bummed.riariasesOk. 1 - The 1000 does have indentations coming out of the back of the system, which are used as grips when you are holding the console. Just like you said, the 2000 and the 3000 are the same shape - take a closer look at the 1000. 2 - Battery covers come packaged with the stamina battery (2200mah). 3 - Replacement batteries are needed if you play PSP as much as I do. L-ion looses it's ability to charge over time.
^ exactly, plus the D-pad is way better than the one on the Phat (my main reason to get one, I play lots of fighting games)2000. Cheaply made but twice the ram. Can still have other games.;)

And I didn't say the 1000 was the same as the 2000 or 3000. I said I don't NEED to have tried the 2000 out to know its shape 'cause I know what the 3000 feels like. And either way theres not such a difference in grip feel. Considering i've owned both, I should know. And I can never seem to play my PSP so much because i've beaten every good game for it. Hurry up game producers. Plus as long as the battery is compatible with the 3000 then nothings a set back.

It feels much different to me. The 2000/3000 are flush on the back.
I mentioned earlier though, I don't mind the slimmer model considering it has a D-pad which is 10x better. The reduction in weight also pays off in the newer models.
(Edit)
Here's what a 2000/3000 looks like with the bigger battery. It looks like it's on life support, and feels like crap. Fortunately, the larger battery slips right into a 1000 very nicely, without the need of a battery cover change. Although this picture doesn't do it justice, since you can purchase the battery with the corresponding color of your PSP (white/silver/black). Once again, all a matter of personal preference.
I had a 1000 and just recently picked up a 3000. Except for the 3000 being slightly more difficult to hold (the ridges on the back of the 1000 helped a lot), I definitely prefer the 3000 over the 1000. The weight and size difference is dramatic. The screen is also much nicer on the 3000, minus the scanlines that sometimes show up. Plus the matte silver finish is far better than the scratch and smudge-magnet glossy black finish. Never used a 2000 so can't say anything about that model.donovan1983Well the 3000 is basically the same as the 2000.
Its amazing that people still choose the originalbustwordI chose the original because it is more sturdily built.
I have a question concerning the 3000; does it still suffer from scan lines? I was interested in getting out but the news turned me off.Lionheart08I've never seen scan lines. Even when playing Valhalla Knights which is an extremelly laggy game. One thing that I did notice though is stuck pixels. For instance: Ratchet and Clank Size Matters. You're jumping across the water and then theres this ONE pixel on my screen that stays blue for about 3 seconds. I don't know if this has happened with anyone else. But i've noticed it.
And funny thing is, it only happens when that specific pixel goes blue for the image. No other pixels do that.riariasesHmm, like a stalling pixel or something. It sounds like that one pixel is having trouble keeping up with the refresh rate. You actually may be able to get your LCD replaced since it's a 3000. Which 3000 did you get, Silver bundle/Black bundle/Black Core?

In my opinion, 2000 takes the cake.
Honestly, the 3000 was just "Oh it's brighter!" (We'll get those hackers yet!)
Silly Sony.

The thing is, the more I play the 3000, the more and more I am becoming partial to it, and wanting to make the upgrade.I've own one of each, and I got to say, the PSP 3000 is the best. The screen is so more vivid, looks like HD. Plus, its controls are more responsive. If you was gonna buy one, I would recommend the PSP 3000.Krazy-KI have to agree with thispost. The screen is like you are playing on an HD TV. It is very nice. Once they come out with a 32 G Memory Stick Duo and some more games, I am getting the 3000.

My 1000 had about 2 or 3 pixels that were permanently stuck. And I doubt I'll actually pay to fix my 3000's one pixel, considering its barely noticable and goes away quickly.
After borrowing a 3000 for the past two days, one thing that I can say is that the most you'll ever notice the lines on the 3000 is during the first few minutes of gaming, before you're really into it. I have to say, I was quite surprised at how different the wide color gamut really is. Side by side, a 1000 and a 3000 look like totally different systems, and there's even a big difference when you turn the wide range off on the 3000. Any way you look at it, the coloring is much better, and makes it hard to go back to the washed out 1000.motherboopThe big suprise is how they could even make such an improvement on almost perfection. What i'm saying is when I first got a 1000, the visual quality seemed so amazing to me. Now that i've been playing the 3000 some more, it feels and looks like i'm playing on a platform console. But none of this changes my complaints about the low quality game library. Its the only reason I like the DS more. As well as because touchscreen is fun. Though I have to say, the PSP has high potential. Just needs more games. Games I like atleast.
I hear you on the whole library thing, the aount of games coming out now is low, and I'm beginning to wonder if it's beginning to slowly turn into a download system now.motherboopWell the only games I really want right now are actually on the Sony Store selection. But I have hoped for 2009. It atleast looks like some good games are coming. Not too many but a fair quantity.
It's only February and already I've enjoyed Star Ocean 1, and LocoRoco2, for releases this year. There are at least 5 or 6 other titles I'm saving for. I'm glad I got a 3000 for my birthday!jimkabrhelBut its a long wait. Infact this wait has been going on since halfway into LAST YEAR! Thats unfair I would say. I don't wanna bash the PSP though because its looking up so much to when it was failing tragically in my eyes. So I think I'll keep my PSP. The other two are long gone.
