I would have to say for me it was System Shock and Doom. SS kept me many hours trying to get through that thing. For its time, it was a phenomenal game and of course you cant go wrong with Doom.

Honorable mentions go to Wolfenstein 3D and Cyberia. Also, does anyone remember Blake Stone? :)

To be honest, one of the earlier games that REALLY got me into PC gaming again was Rogue Squadron.

PC Requirements:
166 MHz Processor
32 MB Ram
46 MB Hard disk space
4 MB Graphics card
Windows 95/98

The good ol' days ;)

Doom. I was 6 when that game came out and I wanted to get that game so badly. Sadly my parents never bought it and I had to deal with the shareware version of it when I was about 7 or 8. That game was the best!

My first computer was a Commodore Vic-20, but it was Paradroid on the Commodore 64 that got me into gaming, period. Justin Calvert and I are the two GameSpot Paradroid freaks.

I remember playing Doom so much that I would hear the sounds of the game in my head long after I played.

To this day, I still swear I heard vivid imp noises in my basement.

Oldie games like Doom, Half-Life, Warcraft II, etc. PC games of the late 90s were amazing.

I wish there was some way to play those old classics again. I would love to sit down and play System Shock and Wolfenstein again.

Since Deus Ex is such an old game, do you think it would work on an XP machine?

I had played doom, shadows of the empire alot on my uncles comp years ago but kept playing consoles.  One day i just decided to buy MVP Baseball 2004 for my PC to see the difference instead of my PS2 and never went back to consoles.

I played Wolfenstein in a computer shop back in the day, and that basically sucked me into pc gaming. However I bought my first pc when I tried Warcraft II at a friends house - I was hooked to that game for years.

Sadly it was just last year when I finally got into PC gaming. It was Unreal Tournament 2004 that got me interested and then I found Quake 4 mp and since then thats all I play now is pc games and mainly q4. I have played pc games in the past but I was dumb and always thought consoles were better so I never played pc games and never owned a high end gaming rig to be able to. Im glad though I found PC gaming because it has brought a whole new meaning, style, and level of gaming for me.

I have always played computer games since maniac manson, dune 2, monkey island, C&C. But the game that made me buy my own PC and become really into PC gaming was Half-life. It was so much better than anything on any machine up until that point. It is still a good game today,

Well, the games that really got me interested were X-Wing and Tie Fighter. Civilization II also had me hooked for ages.

I'm not that big of a PC gamer, but every few years there's just something I have to have. I ended up buying a new computer just to play Battlefield 1942 because I was so excited based on previews. Man, was I ever not disappointed. I'm kind of in a lull for myself, as Oblivion totally disappointed.

This was actually the first Elder Scrolls game I have played. I thought it was great, but I have nothing to compare it too. Was Morrowind better?

I think oblivion had better gameplay then morrowind, but morrowind made you want to go out and look for the best loot and level up more than oblivion does (oblivion has leveled loot and morrowind they hid away secret item and it was fun to look fo them).

Doom got me started I think but Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Half Life, and System Shock 2 all had a hand in really sealing the deal for me. I still play all those games with regularity.

I've tried playing deus ex on xp, but so far it hasn't worked. Strangely older titles like fallout 2(Which doesn't even support directx) and jagged alliance 2 work perfectly.

Morrowind was much, much better than oblivion. The way they made you feel apart of t he world of morrowind was something oblivion could never do. Plus oblivion has leveled loot and baddies. Good thing the PC version has a great mod community.

I'm a reletively new gamer and almost all of my friends prefer consoles, but I decided to get a PC game and the first ever PC game I got was age of mythology, I was instantly hooked on it, I'd never played anything like it before, lol, then I got gothic 2, and that was great fun, but a bit buggy, but still I kept on playing PC games and never stopped...

Cannon Fodder, G-Police, Xcom and Dungeon Keeper are the games that I always remember at the beginning of my PC days. Command and Conquer was the game that made me do my first upgrade, I purchased an extra RAM stick to give me 16MB of RAM and upgraded my CPU to a 486, I think I had a 2MB graphics card too, LOL.

Battlefield 2

Warcraft 2 battlenet edition was the first I played though. Me and my friend played it against eachother whenever we went to each others houses. I loved that game.
