Saw the GamersGate store page of Shogun 2. It's 11.87 gb. Guess some of us are going to play it one day after :(.

There's no pre-load for both the GamersGate or Steam version.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Could have sworn I just read that it was 20gb.
But no, unless you preload from Steam, or buy it retail, you probably won't be playing it day one.
As an aside, the Target up here had it on their yesterday AND today and wouldn't sell it to me. I thought there was a policy that if it's on the shelf they have to sell it, but I guess I was wrong.
I can believe that but I actually thought it was going to be larger also like 20gb large somewhere I read. No preload, day one everyone downloading same time good luck. Hey good news though its not 20gb:P
My copy arrived this morning. It's pretty annoying it can't even be installed prior to release...Artekus
It's annoying, but it's fair.

Not in my opinion. I legally obtained this copy and I should be able to play it, release dates are for retailers, not the players who already have a copy. From what I hear, pirates have already been playing the game for at least two weeks... And at the very least I should be allowed to pre-load/install it. Console players don't have to put up with these restrictions.[QUOTE="airshocker"][QUOTE="Artekus"]My copy arrived this morning. Console players don't have to put up with these restrictions. Technically, getting this game before the official release date must be impossible, just because random retailers violate their agreement doesn't mean you have more rights than others, so in the end yes, it's fair. When installing onto Windows, windows usually needs to store a lot of uncompressed files into temporary storage onto your harddrive, this is why it requires 20 gigs of space. While the actual game may be around half that, when decompressing it nearly doubles the size.
Steam doesn't require this because you download the files directly from their servers, no decompressing required.

It's not a case of thinking I (or anyone else who gets it early) have more rights than others, It's just that we should be able to use something we've paid for and have in our possession. It's annoying, but it's fair.

I'd still have to wait for the release time though since it's going to be installed on Steam
Ah. I checked the Steam forums and people overseas in Europe are beginning to preload the game. Few hours here in the US I suppose.Funny... my father was explaining this very same thing to me last night.:oWhen installing onto Windows, windows usually needs to store a lot of uncompressed files into temporary storage onto your harddrive, this is why it requires 20 gigs of space. and the bugs are confirmed.Apparently there's no DX10 for anybody right now because of an auto-detection bug :?. CA said they'll fix it within "48 hours."

Has a game ever been released with zero bugs? If its Empire level of bugs I would be worried but if its as improved as Napoleon was in bugs/performance then ill be happy.
Waiting a little bit for dx11/dx10 is not a huge issue if the rest of the game runs and plays well to me personally.
We shall see how it goes 2morrow.
Dammit my brother hasnt gone to the store yet like he said to pick up our 2 limited edition copies
Oh and once every1 is done playing their 1st game, you guys up for some.....

ALL OF MY HATE!!!!!
:(
It's that bad. There's a way to manually change it to DX10(I think it's on the forums), but we'll all just have to live with bad shaders and eye-grinding jaggies for awhile. I'm sure they'll have a fix up by tomorrow, Wednesday at the latest. The annoying thing is barely anybody knows about this and is therefore assuming CA lied about DX10(they kind of made a bad choice about putting the sticky in support). TW forums are on fire right now.
Now if the game has bad multicore support like the demo does......
Then RAAARRGGHGHGJGJVHBVVC SZDAF#RWSDFSFSFWWFF RAAAAGE.
