Well, it's definetly not BF2 ^^
But what do you mean with "realistic" are you looking at how it compares to the real world in graphic's, physic's , objects/creatures walking in that world? or are you looking at for example at weapons , landscape, health/armor or how quick you are dead.
Call of Duty 2 is i think one of the most realistic shooters ever because it's reality, weapons are really used, landscapes are realistic and real existing towns and places, with a couple of bullets enemy's(and yourself) are downed just like in real world.
you cant jump like 20 times with no rest, with like 3 jumps or so you are tired and can't jump anymore.
the physic's system inF.E.A.R. isI thinkthe most realistic one compared to other FPS's .

Oh lord, I hope you are joking...thats the whole reason I dont play it, its way to arcade!
Most realistic FPS is problably Operation Flashpoint imo. Maybe Armed Assault, but I havent played that one yet.
Brothers in Arms... Although, sometimes it is ridiculously hard to kill the enemy in that game...varpad
Ya, I remember it was one (or the) last mission where you needed to rendezvous with the tanks, I died so many times that I got a message saying "war isnt fair, but a game should be...would you like to load a checkpoint?" and it actually gave me a free load AFTER i went through all the bullcrap fighting to get to the field up above. Very funny and convenient on the devs part.

Armed Assault is basiclly just Operation Flashpoint with new graphics a better online mode, and a few other tweaks.

battlefield 2 is not realistic. When games are too 'realistic' they tend to suffer as a result. Operation Flashpoint is suppose to be realitic but to a point that it isn't enjoyable.
a ton of people liked Operation Flashpoint for its realism.....It was a very popular game at its time.....Particulary in Europe.

Operation Flashpoint is the best tactical shooter I have ever played.
As for the OP Iwould have to put OPF in the mix.

Oh teh noes! BF2 is modern! It's instantly teh realismz!
Yea, if realistic is bunny hopping through a battlefield, jumping in a tank, blowing up a truck, healing a guy with shock paddles, parachuting off a cliff, then getting in a helicopter and flying it to your carrier and getting in a jet, and joyriding until you decide to bail out and land on a tank and plant C4 on it and blow it up.

you die with 1 or 2 shots
cobrax75
that applies to a lot of games.....
In Armed Assault/Operation Flashpoint you had to crawl around if you took damage to the legs.
and most battles took place at 300+ meters.
i geuss.but not i the ones ive played likecs-4 plus hits most of the time
bf2-you cant hit crap at all when strafting
farcry-u can only hit sum1 that isnt to far
gears of war-takes agood amount of bullts to kill sum1
just for a few that ive experienced

Have you ever played Half-Life 2? HL2's physics own FEAR's anytime. A lot of objects in FEAR can't even be interacted with, and those who can be have pretty bad physics. Go play H2 and you'll know what I mean.
BTW, Operation Flashpoint is so realistic that's not enjoyable at all. I started the game on the lowest possible difficulty settings and got killed with 2-3 shots, and I couldn't even track the source of them.
No first person shooter is even close to realistic. We don't play games for realism...Skullheart
play operation flashpoint/Armed Assault.
Its based off a profesional military simulator used for training soldiers.
and yeah, its not perfectly realistic, but its pretty damn close.
Heres a side note for all you realistic FPS fans,
It usually amounts to a boring/crappy game when they the DEV team try to go, to realistic. One shot kills in the foot and so on. If you want realism, join the service or something.
BTW using Realistic and FPS(Shooting Simulator) is stupid. No FPS game yet has recreated the actuall recoil of a gun firing. To make it realistic.
im not a gun person, but have fired a few guns
Thread over. Anyway, on the "realism makes games not fun if over the top" debate, I heavily enjoy Operation Flashpoint: Elite with a group of friends. We mostly play custom co-op missions, and see if we can make it through. The hard part is actually spotting the enemies, I'll admit, but when you see them and are sure that they're not teammates, it's not too hard. One of the things that I like compared to the Battlefield games is that there's a subtle form of component vehicle damage where shooting out the wheels of a jeep won't make it explode, but it will make it hard to handle. In addition, you can hit the rear rotor of a helicopter and watch the pilot get frustrated trying to keep his chopper from spinning like a top. Finally, it's just the whole part about shooting the door or the fender of a car and watching it NOT explode, as you'd expect. That one single-player mission where you have to make it out of the forest and to your comrades that are pulling out, though...that's probably about as difficult as a typical Commandos mission, which is in other words near impossible, and therefore extremely frustrating.armed assault?
operation flashpoint?
red orchestra?
nutcrackr
I'm going for Red Orchestra its just that good and is pretty damn realistic in my eyes haven't played that flashpoint game or whatever how is that?pummelweed
play Armed Assault, which is the updated new version of Flashpoint....and yes, it is very realistic, much more so then red orchestra.
Flashpoint just has a different feel then any other shooter, it really captures the randomness and unpredictability of war...more so then any other game I have ever played.
