I seem to remember the BBC covering a similiar story. It was never determined it was Manhunt that caused the boy to go through with the actions he did, but he was playing the game during the period he committed the crime.
As for the most gory game, my vote would go with SoF II.

The guy was obviously a bit of nutcase and would of probaly killed the boy even if he hadn't played Manhunt. But I think he killed the boy the same way you kill people in Manhunt.
I didn't reali think SOFII was that voilent. It wasn't too horrible. Other games were.

Not quite dudes.
Their was a big thing about how the killer had been playing MANhunt and all of the papers kept on about how the game was dispecable and disgusting however, it was either PC Gamer or PC Zone that pointed out the fact that the Police report said that Manhunt was being played by the VICTIM not the killer!
The whole story was blown out of proportion by certain elements of the British Media who think that all computer games should be banned unless their educational!
To quote xxx (not wise i know!) '...its the only education we got'...
Soldier of Fortune 2 was bloody but in proportion to the game play. Did anyone ever play Wu Tang: Taste the Pain. One of my mates had it. It was a beat em up. One of the special moves bought on a vat of acid and u threw the victim into it.
Nice!
SoF2, because it was *meant* to be. I really hated how the pools of blood looked in that game though, the damage on the models was very nicely done...but the blood looked like it just didn't belong.....
Hopefully they announce SoF3 next E3...... One thing I've always been hoping for in a SoF game since the beginning..... A fully working circulatory system in every single model in the game..... A fully working circulatory system for every single character in the game...... Which would make it almost impossible to kill somebody the same way ever again. I think within a couple of years (Probably/hopefully when it comes out) it will be extremely possible.....Especially with the new physics card coming out.

Been waiting for SoF 3 to be announced for a good few years now. SoF 2's multiplayer was one of the finest i have ever experienced.
I've played and even used to own Postal 2 until I got sick and tired of the profanity. I haven't played Manhunt, though, but I do own Aliens vs. Predator 2 which is a sweet game. Question. Those of you who said you thought Manhunt was the most graphic and goriest game on PC, have you even played Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix with full access to the violence? Just asking.
Are all of you guys NOOBS?
If you are a true gamer, and if you've played around you will know its POSTAL 2, it knocks sof 2 andm manhunt on its knees.

When someone says gory, i think blood and guts. Postal was all about peeing on folk and setting them alight .... thats more on the sick side of things rather than gory.
First off, I think the decapitated and rotting cow noggins you can throw at people smell better than Postal 2 in my opinion. Have you played SOF2? Have you? Huh? If not, you have not seen what you can do with a shotgun at point-blank range with the violence at maximum! Just think! Shotgun + point-blank range = some serious gore. Take my word for it.Dagamemonkey
Yeah shotguns did do some serious damage in that game. SOF2 is definitely the goriest.

No not really, the kid's just a phsyco loser and the parents needed something to blame, so they pointed at videogames. The Vistims parents also pointed to videogames, the game being manhunt. I'd feel sorry for the parents of the victim, cept it ended up it was the victim who was playing manhunt, not the kid who killed, so now the parents of the victim are being countersued and quickly dropped the case. Under normal circumstances, I'd feel sorry for the victims parents, but under this case, all I can say is hypocritical barstards.
[QUOTE="whipshock08"]Star Craft with huge body counts, there would be dozens of on screen enemies attacking all at one that you could slaughter. Enemies could be ripped open and blown apart, soaking the entire battle field red with blood.
&&
The Punisher with lots of blood and murder. The violent opening cinema shows your family, even your very young little girl being shot to death, dropping dead into pools of their own blood. As you get your revenge, your bullets rip through your enemies, causing huge explosions of blood to squirt out. There was even one gun that would rip off all their skin and leave them bleeding to death. The best and most violent side scrolling beat 'em up ever made.
just 2 others i thought about

Starcraft is asome, but its not really gory. Blood Rain 2 or whatever its called is pretty bloody.
Yeah, i've actually played SoF2 much longer than Postal2, and i still think i could make postal2 look gorier than SoF2 if it wouldn't have lagged that much back then when i was playing it.
And yeah, Bloodrayne was a Gory game fosho, i mean, chopping a nazi into 50+ pieces in a matter of seconds is special, don't you think? :D
Soldier of Fortune was pretty bad wasn't it? I also agree with the fellow who said postal 2.... you can chop off people's heads and then pee on them. Maybe not violent... just weird.
OH! Does anyone remember Die by the Sword? You could chop off people's limbs and beat them to death with them in that game.

It's gonna top SOF2 easy. Picture the accurateness of destroying a head in SOF2. Now imagine that .... But on a guys entire body!
Have yuo even played Postal 2? Sorry, but you can't throw scissors someone in the eye, piss on them, and set to fire in SoF2.
I say Postal 2.

the fallouts were pretty gory. you could kill men, women, and children. if you use a shotgun, an entire section of the their torso just flies out and lands on the ground, and a second later they fall. with the miniugn, they just get ripped to shreds and fall to the ground in a nasty heap of flesh and bone. thats nasty. and, if you select "bloody mess" as on of your skills when creating your character, its even nastier.minigunmorgan
I was going to get the game......Try Vivisector! It's not out yet though.
