The game you most regret paying for?

How can you say you regret buying Bioshock. It was given a 9.0 by gamespot, selected as editors choice, and was a very popular game. If you regret buying bioshock, what dont you regret buying?

Oblivion (I hated its bland environments, the whole game felt unfinished to me)

GTAIV (PC: more problems than just a bad port)

LOTR Conquest

Dark Sector. Locked-up my PC four times. Had to argue, but I got a refund in the end.

World of warcraft........

Homeworld(First game I ever bought that I stopped playing within an hour.)

Wow! Seriously? :shock: I can't recall ever seeing Homeworld on anyone's list of gaming regrets; its a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

Knowing these games are collectively worth $15 on eBay.... priceless.

I'm sorry if the fact that I didn't agree with all the praise bestowed upon it and totally regret paying full-price offends you.

Okay, I'll go all the way back to the first (pc) game on my list of regrets so as to not offend anyone else: SimEarth - The Living Planet (1990), my first true videogame paper-weight. What a total waste of coding! (and money :evil: )

I was just thinking about this the other day - I waste a lot of money on dumb things (like buying a stupid five dollar cup of coffee in a coffee store). But if it's a program for my PC then it's almost always money well spent.

I'd have to go all the way back to a program called "Keef The Thief" - a game so bad that I was unable to figure out how to move my character down the road from his initial starting point.

This was supposed to be a first person RPG. There were arrows on the screen which were also supposed to step you character forward and move him to the next screen, but these keys didn't work. After an hour of frustration I just gave up and uninstalled the program. I was surprised to learn that tens of thousands of other gamers had suffered through the exact same frustrations - those who were able to figure out how to step their character forward were unable to figure out how combat worked, and would just stand there and get killed, and then be taken all the way back to the start of the game.

One guy said that you might want to buy this game if you were planning on killing yourself as it would likely induce a heart attack from the sheer frustration of trying to figure out the basics of the gameplay.

Keef The Thief is the only game - save for FIFA 09 on the 360 - which I've ever torn up in frustration and thrown into the trash.

If by "masterpiece" you mean yet another RTS "harvest, build, tank rush, rinse , repeat" RTS game, then I agree. Absolutely nothing interesting or original about it. Crushingly dull, repetative and exactly the same as Warcraft, C&C, Dune, etc. Hate them all.

Honestly, except for maybe Half Life 2 and Bioshock (both of which were also much worse than their predecessors, Half Life and System Shock 2 respectively) most of the games you listed are fairly mediocre and hum-drum. Heck, the three Bethesda titles you listed I'd say are actually worse than mediocre, they're awful, especially Oblivion and "Oblivion With Guns" a.k.a. FO3.

Still, the game I personally regret buying the most is WoW. What a terribly over-rated, soulless, and generic MMORPG that turned out to be. Pure and utter dreck.

Did Blizzard murder your puppy? All I ever see coming from you is "WoW sucks" posts. It's funny that you said it was a "soulless" MMO. It has by far the best art stylé and music of any MMO game that has been made. Funny in that it was a completely predictable comment from you. I just think you're trolling every time I see one of your posts. It's just relentless.

On a side note, when did you play the game? For how long?

I hated WOW when i first got it, then i renewed it like 7 months later out of sheer boredom and had alot of fun, well fun isnt the right word, but I did enjoy it alot more. MMORPG's are never "fun" they're just a time sink. Something to waste your time when you dont have anything better to do and WOW does the best job at that.

Spore - without a doubt. What an overwarmed turd that turned out to be.

One word: Crysis.

COD: WAW.. got it in December and can't even play through the first level without it freezing.

task force 121 look it up and you will agree it will cause you to toss your cookies and go on a 24/hour crysis based wash and rinse of your concept of visuals let alone it has NO AUDIO (release date 2000), and finally broken mission briefings.

surprisingly not Wolverine Origins. The games actually not that bad :?

Full Spectrum Warrior. I loved the game on the XBOX. Got into PC gaming, found a good deal on it. Came home and installed it, didn't run. Wonderful. Oh well, $10 isn't a loss.

fallout 3

X Blades. I wasn't expecting much, but I was in the mood for a simplistic, hack-n-slash style game. X Blades looked like Sudeki in terms of graphics, which is a decent game. Even though I wasn't expecting much, X Blades was far worse than I had imagined it would be. The level designs are boring and repetitive, as is the action. The game controls also really suck. X Blades is definitely one of the worst games I have played on the pc and I regret paying for it. I wouldn't even bother with the game if it were in a bargain bin.
