Looks like I fit under the Optimum System Requirements. How about you guys?

"On a technical level, Last Light is leaps and bounds beyond 2033, increasing texture quality through the use of incredibly detailed 2048x2048 textures, and geometric detail through the use of extra environmental and object-based tessellation. And like its predecessor, Metro: Last Light also features hardware-accelerated NVIDIA PhysX effects that enable the realistic destruction of scene objects during combat, and the enhancement of other game elements, like particle effects."

"For Metro: Last Light, developer 4A Games has optimized the 4A Engine, ensuring it runs far faster than the version seen in 2033, even when theres more action and more technology on-screen in Last Light."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Minimum System Requirements - To run the game.

Windows: XP (32-Bit), Vista, 7 or 8
CPU: 2.2 GHz Dual Core
RAM: 2GB
Direct X: 9.0c
Graphics Card: DirectX 9, Shader Model 3 compliant. NVIDIA GTS 250/AMD Radeon HD 4850 or higher

Recommended System Requirements - To play at high setting, or near it, at 1920 x 1080 or 1920 x 1200.

Windows: Vista, 7 or 8
CPU: 2.6 GHz Quad Core, e.g. Intel Core i5
RAM: 4GB
Direct X: 11
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 580 or 660 Ti / AMD Radeon HD 7950

Optimum System Requirements - To play maxed out at 2560 x 1440 or 2560 x 1600.

Windows: Vista, 7 or 8
CPU: 3.4 GHz Multi-Core, e.g Intel Core i7 2600k/3770k - AMD FX-8350
RAM: 8GB
Direct X: 11
Graphics Card: [NVIDIA GTX 680 SLI / NVIDIA GTX 690 / NVIDIA Titan] / [AMD Radeon HD 7970 CrossfireX/AMD Radeon HD 7990]

Merde. My dual core i5 and GTX 660 (non-Ti) barely handled the first Metro game. This one will make them cry.

If a single Titan can max it @1600p then the game is way more optimized than 2033 was.

Here is what I get with dual Titans @1080p for Metro 2033:

Not even 100 FPS average, and that game came out quite some time ago.  So I'm guessing the optimization is much better this time around.

I certainly won't be playing it on it's highest settings, but I'm happy to see a game that's using the tech.

I hope that isn't due to un-optimization like the last game, but for the graphics!

Can't see anything SO HIGH there, the recommended settings are quite the standard. Well, yeah, the optimum are high, but I have never ever seen a single game that has them on the package and I highly doubt they will set it as standard for the industry, so nothing to be worried about.

It's just what it needs to be when you want the best results possible, in other terms, settings for High End PC.

I bet a LOT of way older games even would need more for their "optimum settings"

It's weird how it jumps from a 660 in recommended to a Titan in Optimal! I wonder how the 680 will run it..

But. What IS optimal? Are they talking all max at 60fps? or yes you can have everything maxed at 25fps... Because of people like FaustArp I've been feeling quite inadequate lately with my paltry 680 SLI. I've been told that " I've spent quite enough on my PC for now " :( 680 SLI is sooooo 2 months ago...

Optimum? 2560x1600, maxed, 16x AA, 60+ fps...I'd consider that optimum.

That is what Nvidia is saying. I added a description from what I can find next to the requirement label.

Doesn't sound unreasonable at all for the top-end cards we have today.

Yeah, it's like the GS article with Bioshock Infinite running on a Titan. :P I think the 680 will run it fine on 1080p without PhysX. The Titan maybe is needed for 1400p + PhysX.

Why do you play at just 1080p?

It's a good point, GamingVengeance, and it's a point I'm conflicted on.  I've thought about 1600p on several occasions, to get more out of my hardware.  I just can't figure out how to bring my gaming experience together on a computer monitor.

Currently I game on a 50" Pioneer Kuro Elite plasma with a 7.1 surround sound system, in my home theater room.  I've gotten really comfortable in this setup, I like the full surround sound, and playing games from a recliner.

I of course understand I'd get better PQ from a high-resolution monitor, but I can't work out how I'd move the experience away from a large screen and surround sound.  Another member of this forum had a recommendation of putting the center channel of the surround sound system on the floor, and the front speakers on the sides of the monitor.  It's not the worst solution but not ideal either.

Another thing is that I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be moving out of a recliner.  I have a nice chair (at least I think it's nice) at work, but I still don't find it to be extraordinarily comfortable.  Not like the chair in my HT room.  Also, I'm not entirely sure how much benefit I'd get from a higher resolution monitor versus 50" size.

I'm a bit torn on the issue tbh.

Basically realistic requirements for 2033. but seriously those are outrageous. maybe a little less ****ing around and more optimising. seriously developers. google the word optimise~!~~~~~

since you want to maintain an overall large screen size, should just do multimonitor. it wouldnt be a big as your tv obviously but it would be a nice alternate setup to have. after using 3 monitors you prob wouldnt wanna go back to your tv anyways haha

I game on a very similar setup (50" plasma, high end 7.1) and there is no way I would give that up simply to play at a higher resolution.

I'm definitely looking forward to the 4K TV's of the future, but for now I am more than happy with 1080p on the 50" plasmas.

Nothing wrong with spending that much money on graphics cards. But when you spend that much just to power 1920x1080, well.... That is rather daft.

3240x1920... I guess that would be 3 1080p monitors, turned sideways, and put next to each other? I'm just imagining that, and it looks pretty boss.

My buddy did this

that's a sweet setup. Looks like he's doing some music production. I'll be doing a lot of that once I build my new system. Seriously considering multiple monitors. Maybe not right away, though.

Yeah, he's a sound designer for a game studio.  He got a Saxxy award in TF2 as well

Optimum? 2560x1600, maxed, 16x AA, 60+ fps...I'd consider that optimum.

That res and AA at the same time screams murder!

My laptop is pretty much exactly at the minimum requirements. But I might wait on getting this one until after I build a new desktop, which will probably be on the high end of the recommended specs, but not quite optimum. But that's alright, as I highly doubt I'll be going above 1080p.

[QUOTE="GamingVengeance"] since you want to maintain an overall large screen size, should just do multimonitor. it wouldnt be a big as your tv obviously but it would be a nice alternate setup to have. after using 3 monitors you prob wouldnt wanna go back to your tv anyways hahamitu123

Also res like 5760x1080 and 3240x1920 seems amazing compared to 1920x1080!

3240x1920... I guess that would be 3 1080p monitors, turned sideways, and put next to each other? I'm just imagining that, and it looks pretty boss.

that's a sweet setup. Looks like he's doing some music production. I'll be doing a lot of that once I build my new system. Seriously considering multiple monitors. Maybe not right away, though.

Nice. The width of those bezels would definitely annoy me during gaming, though. If I had that setup, I'd probably move the monitors to slightly overlap each other, to cut the width of the bezels in half.
