Just cause 2 has to be the most poorly coded game I ever seen.

Personally I like the game but you cant go 20 minutes without the game crashing. I feel like it could be a great game but I simply cannot play it, and I have tried nearly every suggustion I have come across to remidy it.

After crashing for maybe like the 30th time I give up on the game but I gotta say $3 on steam sale isnt half bad, if it was any more I would be SERIOUSLY regretting my purchase. Im letting anyone who reads this know before they buy it, this game is just simply unplayable. You may want to think before you buy this one.

I have never crashed and I'm on a sh1t computer.
#3 Posted by csadhoo (1462 posts) -

no problems with my copy...

#4 Posted by khanabyss25 (279 posts) -

Quite the contrary , it is one of the most well optimized games there is. Problem is on your side.

#5 Posted by chrisrooR (9027 posts) -
Didn't crash once. Check your computer brah.
#6 Posted by harry_james_pot (11185 posts) -
The problem is with your PC, not the game.
#7 Posted by TrooperManaic (3777 posts) -

I dont think so. My friend has a similar speced computer and has the same problems. It doesnt seem that uncommon on google either.

I've found JC2 to be one of the best optimised games. Never had a crash.
#9 Posted by BPoole96 (22814 posts) -

I've had crashes but there were very infrequent.

#10 Posted by lawlessx (47176 posts) -

I've never had a single problem with the game

#11 Posted by mAArdman (1612 posts) -

problem's on your end, buddy.

#12 Posted by Masculus (2878 posts) -

Of all games I can think of, it is one that works perfectly. JC2 has never gave me one single problem.

#13 Posted by mrbojangles25 (32002 posts) -

the curse of PC gaming is that you cant code a game for all the various rigs out there.

Someone, somewhere, with some configuration...is going to get the shaft.

with that said, I won't take anyone dissing on my Just Cause 2!!! Amazing, freaking fun, corny, epic game!

Seriously, though, I am sure you can find a fix for your problem somewhere.

Worst coded? You have obviously never play minecraft lol.
#15 Posted by megam (457 posts) -
I didn't have any problems with it. One or two crashes in the ~40 hours I spent with the game. Have you made sure your drivers are up to date and all that jazz?
#16 Posted by adamosmaki (9834 posts) -
well it might just be you though since is one of those games not only i didnt had any problems but is actually optimized great. Even my old 8800gt could max it ( albeit at 900p only )
#17 Posted by the_bi99man (11059 posts) -

Definitely an issue on your side. I've got dozens of hours logged into JC2 and i've never had a crash. Or even any framerate problems. And im on a laptop from 2009.

OK you got me there.

cosign this, never had any issues with crashes,etc.. on Just Cause2, it was actually very well optimized imo.

#21 Posted by TrooperManaic (3777 posts) -

I decided to do a debug report of a crash, it says in visual studio

"Unhandled exception at 0x772615de in JustCause2.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x32ecc474."

This. Sure, most of the game is copy and paste, but the scale is huge. Crashes? Never had one single crash. This sounds like user error. Check your video drivers.

Yup this too, but I find it hard to believe that the TC tried all the basic troubleshooting options before he posted this blog. It's one thing if he was just asking for help but he's already defecating all over the game and trying to convince ppl to not buy it.
#23 Posted by TrooperManaic (3777 posts) -

Video drivers are up to date, monitored the heat of my GPU and CPU everything is fine, also tried to run it in administrator mode, still crashes....

I have my opinion and I shared it, last time I checked this forum supported free speech. Just because I review something and give it a bad rating, that doesn't appeal to YOUR opinion of the game doesn't make it any less valid. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone based on my personal experience with it.

Im sure the game is great for people who can get it to work, but I dont know anyone in the real world who has it working so look at it from my point of view.

BTW if I wanted to make a blog I would have.

#24 Posted by C_Rule (9812 posts) -
Have you run the game with all your hardware at default settings?
#25 Posted by Wasdie (50640 posts) -

I've never crashed with Just Cause 2. It must be on your end.

Considering there has never been a widespread crashing error it has to be on  your end. You can disagree with people all you want, but that doesn't change a thing.

#26 Posted by DragonfireXZ95 (19822 posts) -
I think I may have had one crash in JC2, but that was back when I had Windows XP, also.

Well it doesn't work on XP, so that would explain that. :P

Same here on both this and my previous PC. Not a single crash

I didn't really see a need to start a thread for a rant...

#31 Posted by Rockman999 (7232 posts) -

April Fools?

The game runs flawlessly on my laptop.

By the way this forum DOES NOT support "Free Speech", take a look at the Terms Of Use.

'poorly coded game'. Throwing around statements to try and look intelligent ay.
#33 Posted by Gallowhand (480 posts) -

I played the game for over 150 hours on PC and I think it only froze on me once - and that was when I Alt-Tabbed to do something else.  It ran fine, even on my PC which isn't that great.

#34 Posted by soolkiki (1776 posts) -

No crashes here, either...Looks like you're outnumbered on this one.

#35 Posted by Justforvisit (2660 posts) -

Haven't any problems either, only complaint is that the controls are a bit over sensitive in my opinion.

But if you want to let everyone who buys it to know stuff about it...

Steam Game Hubs are the answer and correct place to do so.

Dude, it's not an opinion. You're saying that it's poorly optimized when it's your computer that's failing to run the game and everyone else's is running fine. It's not an opinion of ours to say that it is well optimized, when it IS and runs fine for us. Just because your computer fails to do something doesn't mean that the program is at fault, it's  your computer. That's fact, not opinion. And flash update for you, I do live in the real world; don't be insulting.

I've never had a problem. The story sucks but the game sure is fun to play.

Didn't even crash once for me.

Check the health of your PC.

I agree 100%....with everyone else. It is obviously your PC that is poorly optimized.

+1 to all those who have played it for endless hours and never had it crash before

#41 Posted by CUDGEdave (2590 posts) -

Works beautifully for me.

#42 Posted by Cwagmire21 (5896 posts) -

I've only played 4 hours into it but never had an issue. I'll jump back into it again some day. :)

#43 Posted by MonoSilver (1392 posts) -
First time I've ever heard of these issues with it. Ok I never played it on PC but I had it on 360 and only got the annoying repeating dialogue bug.
#44 Posted by TrooperManaic (3777 posts) -

My computer plays any other game completly fine, I can max out JC2 even with 16xAA at 40+FPS. Its the game not me, also my pcs OS is just fine, no viruses or useless background programs.

I tried also running on default and it still happens. Im glad YOU guys can run it but I cant neither can "now both" of my friends. Im starting to think its Steams fault.

You've verified the cache files? Tried different video drivers? Uninstall the game, delete any remaining registries, and then reinstall. It could be that Just Cause 2 doesn't like any overclocking you've done on your hardware including your CPU @5GHz. Is your GPU overclocked? Run them all at default and try again. If problems still persists, I think you have no choice but to move on. Cheers.
#46 Posted by TrooperManaic (3777 posts) -

yeah I figured, I was gonna try the registry thing as I just heard about it a few hours ago but reinstalling is just so much of a pain right now.

Deleted JC2, ran AVG registry cleaner, reinstalled JC2, ran memtest, ran video memory tester.... Still crashes. IDK what to do anymore im starting to thing this game just wont work. I also tried running with the lowest possible settings and it still crashes.

Did you try setting your hardware to default (no overclocked CPU or GPU)? Save your OC Profile, set to default factory, boot up JC2. Cheers.
#49 Posted by Elann2008 (33028 posts) -
^To add, you should go into registry (search bar: Regedit) and manually look for Just Cause 2 registries and delete them. I doubt that AVG registry cleaner will do it properly.
