Well, I mean, not in frustration, but in the emotional sense. Me, I was sad during my first playthrough in Kotor when I had to kill Bastila. Next time, in ME2 when in the Suicide Mission Tali was killed... all after I defended her from exile. It was also difficult to choose between saving Ashley and Keidan in ME1.

The ending to Final Fantasy X was a tear jerker for me. The Ending of Io had me bawling. I was playing a Horror game, whose name I forget, in which I gkept getting notes from a survivor. He made it ahead of throughout most of the game and then I came upon his last message. He had been wounded, ran out of ammo, and ran out of hope. He comitted suicide, all alone in an air vent. There was an safe haven just a few hundred feet away from him. It was hard to deal with for some reason, because you had begun to care for him

Heavy Rain, pretty much 70% of the game is pure tear jerker material. Watching the kid die, watching Ethan go through the trials, watching literally any of the non "happy ending" endings.

The ending of Red Dead Redemption also made me sad, but in a different way. After my incredible journey with Marston, it was over, and he well paid the price for his past and for his family.

Metal Gear Solid 3 as well. The final boss fight with The Boss, and the twist ending that sends Big Boss over the edge into a jaded man instead of the naive patriot he once was.

Finally, I thought the ending of Call of Duty 4 and the Nuke in the middle were just a tad sad. Not enough to elicit an emotional response, but in both cases you see the devastation of war and wonder "is... is he going to live? Are they ok?" Because you don't expect such drastic losses and moments in a game.

I felt bad for toasting Ashley Williams in Mass Effect 1. I also felt pretty bad for dropping a nuke on Bannon in World in Conflict.

Not really. The closest would probably be the ending of MoH. I've played many video games where a main character died, but the way it happened at the end was pretty sad.

Errrrm, might wanna put some spoiler warnings in the thread title or the OP. Anyway, MGS 4 almost got me crying towards the end, then it went full r***rd. The ending of HL2 Episode 2 made me pretty sad. Warcraft 3: TFT also made me sad, I didn't want that story to end, lol.

A couple have actually. Mostly more indie games rather than mainstream stuff. The best example for me would probably be To The Moon by Freebirdgames...the game is completely story-driven and very emotionally charged, but certainly not for everyone lol. Another is Shadow of the Colossus, I always felt really sad at the end when the main character finally resurrects the girl but ends up getting killed. An old adventure game Shannara made me feel a bit sad when one of the main characters died, because of the way the game made you become a bit attached to all of the characters. There was also a game called Sunset over Imdahl that was pretty sad, you played a boy who was trying to save his village from a plague while it was under siege, it really had a pretty powerful message and story for a game that, to the best of my knowledge, was made by one person. Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head, it takes a lot for a game to make me feel very emotional lol.

One of the endings to Saints Row 3 (the line 'Was it worth it?' was quite a strong one)

Honestly, I think I felt the most emotion from any of the Katawa Shoujo endings, either be it the good ones or the bad ones.

There are a few emotional games. That I have played lin the past few years.

Bastion.

Lost Odyssey (very emotional moments in this game)

Metal Gear Franchise. There are parts in these games that make me cry like a baby.

But TC you should know that there will be the inevitable poster that is trapped inside the "man box" who will question your man-hood. Just pay no attention to those ignorant posts.

Pre-emptive, but there have been threads here at GS that were about the same exact thing in the past, and there have been many to say, "oh a video game made you cry, thats pathetic" or something like it.

Maybe your right, maybe I was a little soon to post it.

I still fail to see what is sad. You never really had a relationship with either. Glados tries to kill you and wheatley only helps you escape for a bit. There is no real connection made with either character, just witty remarks.

Hmm, no game has made me sad in a emotional way.

But i have been disapointed by games, like for exampel LA Noire where despite the clue in the title it was disapointing to see the ending espcialy since the main character is a very likeable guy and i at least wanted to see him win :D. Also Mass effect where its disapointing when you get new crew members instead of the old after playing through 1 and 2 with them.

I was sad when I made a certain character in Kotor 2 kill herself in my defense. Usually those kinds of dark side manipulative choices were just funny, but they had a few in Kotor 2 that really made me feel sad and horrible.

Plenty in a ho-hum regard. Usually when the gravity of something sinks in, and how miserable everything is; X-Com games are great like that, and then there's games that follow stricter paths like Dear Esther.
