And if so what games are you going to play it with?

I can see myself using it for Hawken, Team Fortress 2, Tribes Ascend, Killing Floor, Battlefield, Planetside 2, PayDay 2. I can see use it for it in other games like MMOs that don't require too many buttons. I hope it does take off because it looks like a good alternative to getting a Roccat Sova or Razer Turret to do couch gaming and have better accuracy than console controllers. I wonder how many developers will natively support it.

I do most of my PC gaming from the couch now so I see the big deal in it. It would encourage me to buy games like Divinity: Original Sin and Wasteland 2.

I will try it to satisfy my curiosity, but it does not look like something I will buy. I use an Xbox controller and I wouldn't dare use that thing over M+KB for shooters or RTS.

I'm definitely interested, but it's non-traditional enough that I'll be waiting for reviews first. As a d-pad fan, the steam controllers' version is concerning as well.

One of Larian's update videos a few months back talked about controller support being in the works, so we you may be able to one regardless when Divinity's big hardcore patch finally comes out.. Also could happen to Wasteland 2 as well, seeing how they're making an Xbone version and also have a massive patch in the works.

Dear god no. Track pads are horrid for gaming. It's like they took the worst controls from cell phone games and made it possible on PC.

Maybe. I can see it being way better than sticks for FPS but I rarely do a couch-type setup.

I'll have to demo it first, but it looks like all of the hest aspects of M+KB and Controller put together. Trackpad for accuracy and controller design for button accessibility.

Possibly if the reviews are good on it.. Its really the first major advancement in gamepads in the past 10 years outside of motion controls..

Probably, I am looking for something besides a wired 360 pad... I keep getting shorts in the damn cords. I have had 3 all do the samething... I bought a used one that has this issue now (3rd one), but its not horrible. Either way I am looking for a solution. I am thinking about getting a Xbox One controller because the cord unplugs from the controller.

XBOX 360/one controller is the only controller you need for PC.

Won't get it either. Not because I think it is a POS, but like you say about the X360 controller... I got one of those.

Indeed. I made a typo. I think it could more enjoyable than M/KB in a couch-setup situation (because you can kick-back) but I'll be surprised if anything ever tops the traditional KB/M combo.

I'm interested to try the Steam controller, because I do sometimes use a controller with games not built for it, via joy2key or xpadder. A lot would depend on how adjustable the sensitivity of the 'trackpad' is for cursor movement.

I mostly play shooters and RPG's so no... Shooters I NEED a mouse and for RPG's I need a keyboard.

Also I saw a GDC video of it on Linustechtips and its apparently not really doing it for them.

I'm getting it with the Steam Link bundle for my bedroom.

I will make my wife watch me play all the indy games I enjoy but would be better from the bedroom like Darkest Dungeon.

Or some of the RPG's that have released like FFVII.

"if there's a game that frustrates you to play on a touchpad with a laptop, it will probably frustrate you to play it with this controller"

And there goes my interest. I've had to get used to several different laptop touchpads, and they all still sucked or were sub-par for most games. It's also sobering to hear that it can't act as a replacement for a regular controller, either.

I'd certainly like to try it out and see how it works for 1st person shooters. I don't have high hopes but I'll give everything a fair go. It wouldn't work for RTS games because hotkeys are a necessity. Even just a chilled game against the computer needs unit grouping at the bare minimum. Guess it might be OK for turn based games though, we shall see.

What a weird comparison.

Do people operate the trackpad on their laptops with their thumb ?

I plan to get one yes. I hate having to use Microsoft controller in all the games I use a controller in and the Steam controller maps keyboard buttons to the controller and emulates the mouse which should make it adaptable for any game.

Nope, I really like my wired XBox 360 controller, if I could get a wired XBone controller I would.

That said I am buying a Steam Link within the first week of launch assuming they work as advertised.

I'm curious about this controller mainly because I moved my PC into the basement and is now my primary gaming system from a distance. I like the Xbox controller but this may fill in for games that require a KB/M. Either way I'm interested.

I just really suck at using a controller. Maybe this will be different but I feel it may lack some tactile feedback with it being digital instead of analog, with the exception of one analog stick.

If someone wants to play on my PC they can just use my 360 controller.

I hope it does well, because I like the using wasd for movement with a controller layout. But I don't get why there is analog stick instead of a dpad.
