finally predicted a correct score and got both winners right.

I can't say there is really one team that stands out. That I would say, ok they're definitely gonna win it. No team has really impressed me.

@jeager_titan: You are really underestimating Russia.They sent Portugal to play-off before they(Portugal) could qualify for the WC.Also ,you're underestimating Fabio Capello.

Ok guys, that concludes the group stages. Now that only the best 16 countries are left, I thought we should make it a bit more interesting. You have until the next match begins to predict who will win the world cup, and if it turns out you were right, you get 10 points. My guess is gonna be The Netherlands (unbiased as always ^^).

Germany.Mark my word.

I'm going with Germany as well. Close seconds are Netherlands and Brazil but I don't think they got as good a mettle for it as the Germans.

Germany has to beat France in the quarter finals though, which will be no easy feat seeing as France has been playing very well this tournement

@deeliman: Now that we're in the knockout stage ,we better make some changes to the whole predicting deal ,given that some games may (and will) continue to extra time and penalty shoot-out.I suggest one of the following protocols :

1.We set the predictions for the 90 minutes+the extra time.And ,if a game's winner isn't somehow determined in the 120 minutes ,we define that game as a tie ,no matter which side wins the penalty shoot-out.

For example ,team A plays against team B and I predict team A to be the winner.In the 90 minutes ,they end up 2-2.So they head to the extra time , and in the extra time ,each team scores once ,and they eventually get a 3-3 draw in the 120 minutes.They proceed to penalty shoot-out ,and team A beats team B 5-4.However ,I've lost the bet ,because the game ended up 3-3 in the 120 minutes.

2.We simply add the extra time and penalty shootout to our predictions ; that is when deciding the winner of a match ,we also decide whether the winner will be determined in 90 or 120 minutes or by penalty shoo-out .And no need to predict the result of the penalties ,just the winner.

For example I predict that the winner of the match between A and B will be determined in penalties,and the winner will be A.If so happens ,I get 2 points.If A wins ,but not in penalties rather in the 90 or120 minutes ,I get 1 point ,because I've predicted the winner correctly.

We could add a bonus point to number one.

So just let everyone predict a shootout winner as well as the in game score.

So even if they don't predict a draw they still get a shot at a point by guessing the winner of the shootout.

That could sound a bit weird in some cases ,for example if I predict A beats B 2-1 ,then for the next part , if I predict B beats A in shoot-out ,I might sound a bit clumsy won't I ?!

Yes, maybe. But I thought it could just act as a fail safe if you gained no points from predicting the wrong result. Shoot outs are pretty much 50/50 So it is pretty much a lottery forr a point if the game were to go to a shoot out.

Alright ,if anyone wants the bonus point ,they can predict the possible shoot-out's winner as well.It's up to deeliman whether to hand on the point or not though ,he's the boss around here you know.

I probably will predict the 120 minutes' result only though ,I believe in myself !

We're 3 minutes into the game as I'm typing this ,sorry for the delay, something kept me busy ;)

Remember fellas ,all the predictions are set for the 90 minutes AND the probable extra time ; and if you want the bonus point (actually the back-up point) PcGamingRig talked about ,don't be shy ,just pick a penalty shoot-out winner too.

Also ,a result is defined to be a tie ,if and only if ,the game is tied to end of the extra time,Regardless of the result of the penalty shoot-out.

I think the bonus point is a good idea, but seeing as the game is already 45 min in, you can only start predicting it from the next game on.

I forgot to predict anything for this game, but my other prediction is Colombia 2-1 Uruguay Colombia wins shootout

@elkoldo: Winning the Cup is a no-no but to qualify to the quarter-finals to play against Netherlands is not impossible. So far the match is pretty balanced. We'll see, if we do win I'll shove it in your guys' faces. :D
