Americans live like gods whereas the Brits live like caged animals.

There's an interesting fact for why this is the case; the great fire of london, around which time houses were very large and arranged in rows, basically making a neighbourhood one giant source of fuel for fires which could easily spread from one house to another. After the fire to solve that problem, joists in houses were no longer built horizontally but laterally along the middle of the house. This meant fire couldn't spread down the joist and hop onto the next building. The downside was that this meant a large wall had to be right in the middle of the house which meant room sizes were basically cut in half. And rooms in Britain have been smaller ever since. Of course, fancy new buildings no longer need to be constructed in this way, but culturally the nation is used to small rooms and therefore building them much larger would generally be seen as rather odd. Plus there's the fact that London is one of the most expensive and most valuable cities on earth, so construction companies want as many units as possible on each piece of land. The more you know.

Well everybody lies :P  Just like the English saying they subsidise Scotland.

Only that is literally true. Scots get a subsidy of over £3000 per person compared to what they actually pay in tax.

The UK is not alone in picking up Americanisms. Since the second world war there have been countries all over the world that have picked up various consumerist traits and ways.

The counteraction to OP's post is a simple one: how much does America do that the Brits DON'T want?

A private health system, abject poverty for a large proportion of the pobulation, ingrained racism and limited social prospects? No thanks. I'll stay British ta.

What lies?

EDIT : What part of the UK are you from?

'Scotland pays 9% of tax but is only 8% of the population, therefore we subsidise the rest of the UK.' Top lel.

Well everybody lies :P  Just like the English saying they subsidise Scotland.

It doesn't matter if you go independent anyhow, we'll both (England+Scotland) be mere provinces of the Fouth Reich/EU Superstate in a few years time.

Not really, I think British people are more open-minded about the interests from other countries and willing to enjoy them.
