I really love hawks and eagles, and I think the hummingbird are adorable, then you have all the birds who can imitate speech, but since I live in a place with so many ravens and crows I have to go with them.
It's quite a unique experience to walk in a field with thousands upon thousands of them. I still remember the first time I did that....At first they really didn't give a damn about me and they were just doing their own thing, then all of a sudden every single crow looked at me at the same time like a hive-mind; they turned their heads sideways, studying me, then instead of flying away they started walking toward me and before I knew it there was a cloud of black walking all around me. That's when the ravens decided "this might be worth our time, let's check it out "and just flew between me and the crows and then it got really loud, really fast...at this point I may or may not have started to have some Hitchcock-induced flashbacks and be close to shitting my pants but running probably wouldn't have been a good idea...anywhere I looked -ground, trees, anywhere- was full of crows and these huge-ass ravens standing at my feet (some of them literally ON my feet) just chattering away at each other so I slowly started walking through the crows and none of them acted hostile in any way but they wouldn't take their eyes off me either so after 2 or 3 minutes of "walking on eggshells" I finally got the hell out of there =P The ravens actually followed me for another couple of minutes before deciding I wasn't about to do anything interesting.
It was scary but now I actually do it for fun since they're quite friendly. Only incident I ever had with them was one time I was walking home while eating a sandwich and it broke off and half of it fell on the floor...when I saw a cloud of them furiously flying towards the food I got the hell out of there but they chased me so I had to throw the rest of the sandwich away because they were actually flying at me and pecking on it...none of them tried to hurt me but I wasn't going to risk it...that has happened once with a bunch of seagulls too but the seagulls don't give a crap if they're snapping at the bread or your fingers...crows are a bit more precise =P
