@korvus: Here in Redmond, WA, the crows seem to be very independent in spring and summer, but very willing to scavenge from humans in fall and winter when, presumably, their natural food sources are scarce.

I occasionally buy cheap McDonalds takeaways (esp. Sausage McMuffins), break them up and feed the pieces to the crows. More often than not, though, brutish seagulls bully the crows away and steal the food.
