it was a little while ago, but i watched only god forgives. basically, it's f*cking glorious. it's about mobsters and it's set in bangkok so the temptation is to call it a crime movie, but the minimalist visuals, broad morality, and societal themes give it a western flavor. ryan gosling is the star, but it's kristin scott thomas and vithaya pansringarm that steal the show. thomas is a nightmare as a crime boss who is out of her element and simply doesn't give a sh*t. she makes eleanor iselin from the manchurian candidate look like june cleaver. pansringarm's lt. chang is both dream and nightmare. he inflicts justice to criminal and victim alike with neither passion nor remorse. like the rest of the film, he's terrifying but it's impossible to look away.

The last movie I saw in theaters was Man of Steel. Pretty good, but I mainly liked it for its action scenes.

As for here at home, I saw the movie WALL-E last night. Not gonna lie, it was kinda boring.

Re-watched The Maltese Falcon and I've gotta say the blu ray copy makes a helluva difference. A true classic that only gets better with repeated viewings.

At the theater? Gravity. It was fine, if over-hyped. I liked the camera-usage (specially the first-person sequences) and the effects, but otherwise it wasn't as mind-blowing as some people were making it out to be.

Grabbers (2012) - It doesn't come together in quite a satisfying manner as one would hope, but it does have enough goofy charm for a decent bit of monster movie entertainment.

a low budget horror flick with a nice approach to the subject of people disappearing in a small town.
