OT Special Event: Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao!

Like the World Cup and other big sports events, they deserve to be share in OT and not a ghost town.

I sure hope Manny kicks Mayweathers butt, although I'm pretty sure that won't happen.

Heart says to root for Manny.

Mayweather has gone "undefeated" and may have earned the right to be as arrogant as he is, but it would make me so happy if he gets served a nice big piece of humble pie.

EDIT: Also, lol at having a sports forum. I never even knew that existed in gamespot.

Nothing against boxing really, but skilled martial artists are vastly superior fighters in real life.

A Mayweather lost would be glorious! Too bad he'll probably grind out a decision.

Ippo is one of my fave animes. You should give a shot when you get the chance if you don't mind slightly older anime art style.

Happening as I saw it going. Pacquiao holding his own for the first few rounds, but Mayweather easily winning the long game. Don't see Pacquiao winning it at this point.

It was what we expected. Nothing to see here.

Nah, it was a well fought fight. We knew that boxers of this caliber wouldn't have any knockouts. Lots of good hits and decent action. Overall it was a good match.

Well, they went the full 12.

Left to unanimous decision with a surprising result. I felt like Pacquiao sunk in more stings than Mayweather or at least it seemed that way. But oh well.

Very anticlimactic match.

I'm disappointed how the fight turned out. Manny didn't seem to be the same as he was a few years ago. He seemed slower and less energetic, with less pressure. All he needed to do is just pull a Maidana, and Manny can do better than that, but he didn't. Where did Manny's ferocity and killer instinct go?

Nevertheless, I thought the fight was pretty close, despite what the judges say. But either way, the better Welterweight boxer won the fight, so hat's off to Floyd.

It would have been more interesting to see how the fight would have turned out a few years ago, when Manny still had it in him. The fight probably would have been a lot closer back then.

Disappointing match. I thought Manny was the better fighter throughout. He should have won.

He sunk more hits but Mayweathers shots were far more precise and better timed. It's not about how many times you hit but how well you hit, unfortunately Mayweather hit better.

What an awful fight, floyd runned again to a decision. Can't believe I stayed up till 6 am for this. It was so bad considering the hype I think this fight might have killed boxing for good.

Jeez. I didn't think I'd watch a guy running for 12 straight rounds. It was a extremely boring match.

Anyway, Floyd won this easy so what you were watching? Manny was missing his punches.

I also stayed up for this fight as I'm from London. Disappointed to say the least. I wanted floyd to get put in his place but oh well, boxing is dead to me now.

A shame these two didn't fight years ago.

I enjoyed the fight where boxing is concerned, but I was convinced Manny had won more rounds than Floyd... A fight like this should have a rematch, Mayweather was by no means decisively superior, but knowing Mayweather I wonder if he'll even consider it.

I think Manny wanted this fight more. He tried for knockouts.

This is why boxing is declining... Too much running and very little fighting.

Well that fight was like most of Mayweather's, underwhelming. I agree he did enough to win but he is so cautious, doesn't risk anything and then arrogant that its hard to like him. He won with his jab, the lead right hand. Ali, Ray Robinson threw combinations of 3-4 punches at a time. I give Mayweather credit, I have never seen a fighter in my 43 years that can skip back from punches so fast. But no matter how you cut it it looks like he is afraid to get hit. People like humble guys, and respect fighters that will mix it up a bit. Great boxers of the past at least would mix it up a little, and over whelm opponents with combos. Floyd just wont mix it, and pot shots his way to decisions. Effective? Yes. But this is why he gets booed. I respect his talent, not his lack of heart.

Ever see Pernell Whitaker fight in the 1990s? He would stand in punching range and make people miss, a lot. Floyd does a lot of back skipping to get out of range, and tying up when someone is close. This is the difference between boxers that people find exciting and ones that people say are just afraid to get hit. Floyd scored enough to win no doubt. But he just comes off like a bitch because of how quick he skips out of punching range. MMA has changed what people respect more. The proof is in the fact that even with a points victory, people weren't cheering for Floyd.

Edit: is reported that Pacqiaou admitted before the fight he had a right shoulder injury and asked if he could take an anti inflammatory (advil/motrin) and the Las Vegas boxing commission said Manny couldn't take one. Take from it what you wish.

As far as Boxing vs UFC goes, I never got into it. A lot of just holding position.
