Good god, he's still making albums?
Bluestorm-Kalas
His solo career has lasted only 7 years. Considering all of his albums get good reviews (not to mention great sales) and this one is getting outstanding reviews...I don't see why he wouldn't keep making albums.
"good" rap is subjective.
Very true. Should have been more clear but what I meant was that while rap isn't my genre of choice I do enjoy some of the genre's masterpieces. By "good" I mean acclaimed, revered, of notable merit. Well this album has been getting good reviews, if not great. I would suggest checking it out then. It's so different from anything I've heard this year. (Or pretty much ever for that matter).
Definitely album of the year.SmittyPeppers
ever? really? no doubt kanye is original for the most part but you need to step up your hip hop listening game homie. i can help.

Lol nah I'm good. Production-wise, this album is very much different. It's fresh.[QUOTE="Bluestorm-Kalas"]

I just didn't think his mainstream audience had a large enough attention span to listen to the same artist for more than a few years without getting bored of the name Kanye West and moving on to the next big fad.[QUOTE="JML897"]

EDIT: toriko beat me to it. he's got the right idea...
I sometimes feel like I was the only one who didn't hate that album. I actually liked a couple of songs on the album.[QUOTE="Luxen90"][QUOTE="supa_badman"]
I'll have to take a listen, I hated 808's. Glad to see he's back on his music game.
JML897
I liked a couple songs, but as a whole I thought it was a lot weaker than his other 3 (now 4) albums.
This is more or less how I feel.I hate Kanye. I think he is one of the most overrated hip-hop (if you can call it that) artists of all time. I will give it a listen, but I'll be very suprised if its any good. What passes for good hip-hop these days is a shame. All about money. *Goes back to listening to R. A. The Rugged Man* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGZsGX3B_BY
It's a definite contender for AOTY in my books.
Love him, hate him or reside somewhere in between, Kanye makes good music. I knew this album would be good, I'm just surprised that it's quite as good as it is.
What's everyone's top 3 favorite tracks? I'd have to say Dark Fantasy, Lost in the World, and Blame Game.Luxen90
blame game
gorgeous
dark fantasy
....in that order....so far.

Not the hugest fan of Kanye having only heard Graduation and 808's which I thought were ok but I'm honestly blown away by My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. For sure my favorite album of 2010.
Favorite tracks right now are Dark Fantasy, All of The Lights, So Appalled
After listening it couple of times, I can see why people are saying it's his best album. I don't think it's a 10/10 like the Pitchfork review, but again, I can see where they're coming from. Love the album.
That was nice. I never heard of them until now. (can't say I've been keeping up with Death Metal as much I should) I know not a good reason considering Nile has been around for a second.Nile - Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten
Also an amazing song. :D

I actually posted that in the wrong thread, was supposed to be in the thread about (instrumentally) heavy songs. :P
Glad you liked it though!
[QUOTE="jeremiah06"]Yeah, so all the "fake" Eminem fans here can get off of their "All rap is garbage except for Eminem" High horses...go_metsim so glad recovery has NO chance to win best hip hop album now. that would of been pathetic.
I can't wait to see what Kanye does at the Grammy's. Last time he performed with Daft Punk so he's definitely gonna try to top it.

A lot of Eminem fans have thought that for the past 10 years despite that fact that there's been a ton of great hip-hop during that time period. Even this album probably won't change their mind either.
(And to the guy two above me: if you're talking about the Grammys then MBDTF isn't eligible for this year's Grammys because they have really stupid cutoff dates.)
