Weapons are for the weak.SOedipusYeah, but by training with weapons, you can improve.
I don't carry weapons, my environment should be enough. If I had a choice, I'd use my body or something that I can use for more than fighting. Like a staff.

Dude, I ama weapon! Kiss my black-belt ass!
Though I always carry a knife(more as a tool), and In my room I have about 4 swords(they're all real), some kantanas, and a couple of nun-chucks(I know how to use them all, very well)
oh ya, when I was a chef I carried my knives with me...I had a 11 inch chefs knife, a six inch chefs knife, a couple paring knives, a large butcher knife, and a knife honer that could problably skewer someone.
Do those count?

Damn near everybody I know here in America carries a knife. At least here in Texas. Some carry guns, but everybody has a knife.
You Americans, for all your talk, seem to be scared of everybody. All what talk? And who said American's are scared of everybody?
Seriously.. where in the hell do foreigners get their information?

Fists don't win wars buddy.
Then again, without weapons, there wouldn't be war.....Pwned......
Not true... Not true at all. ANYTHING can be considered a weapon if used correctly (or incorrectly if you want to get technical).
Weapons don't make war, man, or more specifrically, humans do.

And people, especially black, orange, and blue people.

You Americans, for all your talk, seem to be scared of everybody.I'm not here to talk down upon other cultures, but I could quite literally go around all day asking people in the street whether they're carrying a knife and not find one (even assuming they all tell me the truth). Not to say that I wouldn't eventually run into someone, but it'd be a rare event.
I love you really *sniffle*

If only the same could be said "here in Texas." :PI used to carry a knife, and it actually saved me.
Some big moron got the jump on me in a parking garage and tried to mug me. What he didn't know was that I carried a lock-blade in my painters' pocket. I was able to flip it out and open quickly enough to stab him in the side and twist a little. HE then began screaming in Spanish, tripped, and staggered away very quickly. The Police didn't care much when I told them what happened, and I don't think they ever found him.
At any rate, sometimes a weapon, even a small pocket knife can be a good thing.
I am going to apply for a conceal and carry permit this summer. If this ever happens again, the thug will get a bullet instead of a blade.
And to anyone who says weapons are for the weak... I would love to hear those same words uttered while staring down the barrel of a gun or at knife point. Trust me. If ever in that situation, most people would be pretty helpless.

People carry knives as tools also, you know. But why would someone not carry a pocket knife? It is useful in many different situations.

I
Of course, I should simply stand there and LET a trio of bat-wielding thugs come at me, particularly if they are athletic ones that I have no hope of outrunning. All I would have to say is "You are creating a climate of fear in this country with your weapons and mindset. Do you really want that?". I'm sure they see the error of their ways that instant, and go to the nearest Salvation Army center to donate their clothes and shoes.
You can go ahead and tout that "You think violence can be a way to ensure your well being, so you are ignorant and barbaric and I'm civilized" spiel all around. Rather hypocritical of you to call someone ignorant when you think every situation can be worked around with words and running. If I find myself cornered in a dark alley by knife/bat-wielding thugs, I sure as hell am not going to find solace in the fact that I'm unarmed and am not 'creating a climate of fear'.
well, have you ever had a trio of bat wielders come at you?
no? you know what, neither have I
and im not going to start carrying a weapon with me just in case i get rolled
because the climate of fear has got me so rattled that i think i need a piece to protect myself
I live in Australia, no guns, guns and other weapons are forbidden, is there violence? hell yes
Would there be more violence and dead people if we all beared arms? most certainly
thas my point
Yeah, well your point sucks because you just steriotyped 300,000,000 people all in one post. And actually no, a trio of bat wielders have never approached me, but let me tell you this much, one is enough for me to cap him in the foot, and your a fool if you think I would let him smite me.

Yes, and yes. I own pocket knifes and what not, but I don't carry them around town and I seem to get along fine. Maybe once and awhile I might wish I had a knife with me. But when once and awhile is every few months I could care less.

My point is that people don't carry knives just for safety. Most people who carry them do so for it's usefulness as a tool.
