That may be true that some aussies have a shotgun in the closet for home protection purposes, i know my dad used to, but if they ever have to use it they will face lengthy court trial and the strong possibility of jail time.

But your right, for your individual purpose of protecting your home and family a gun surly is a great last resort until the intruder also has a gun and pulls the trigger first

You don't seem to trust your law enforcment agencies much if you seek for extra protection, maybe

if you spent military budget on fixing internal issues you would have to be less scared for your safty

a society to bear arms is in my opinion wrong and disruptive to itself

and if you want to talk statistics then look at the violence/murders in the us compared to other 1st world countries

1) Do you have any idea how few burglars are actually ARMED? What is a burglar? A person who breaks in to steal something. They are already breaking several laws by doing that, you think they are going to SHOOT someone as well?

2) You must have pretty goddamned good law enforcement of Australia. I mean, over here, it takes several minutes for them to get to your location. But, it looks like in the ol' Land Down Under, you can just whip out your cell phone when you cornered in an alley or catch a burglar in the act and summon instantaneous police. What kind of teleporter do your cops use, exactly?

i know several people who put guns under the seats of their cars, mainly AK47s. that's the result of living in the middle east

1. If someone breaks into my home, a gun is not the last resort. Tell him if he moves, he dies. If he moves, shoot him... you dont wanna risk it, you don't know what he's going to do.

2. Law enforcement agencies can't be everywhere all the time. It takes time for them to show up on the scene.

3. The murders that happen in America are MOSTLY due to a few things: Gangs and drugs. Most murders are done by criminals, and they kill criminals (Criminals before they murdered, or they are previous murderers). Most have to do with drugs. So basically, it's the criminals killing other criminals. You SOMETIMES rarely hear about a night club shooting, or a wife shooting their husband, etc.

Also, although gun crime isn't as high as in other western countries, murders are comitted with other weapons. Such as knives, bats, and other blunt objects.

Where do you live? If I walked around in the countryside old people would go crazy if they saw me walking around a field or forest with a sword, actually, everyone would go crazy. Besides, the most fearsome thing you would come across here would be a sheep or a particularly grumpy cow. England is such an exciting place to live :roll:
