Would you buy a TV-only Switch console?

Switch released the Switch light for $200, and it is mobile only. If they released a TV only console, no screen, no joycons, and shipped with a Switch Pro controller for $200, would you buy it? I would. I do not have a Switch, I was thinking of getting one but I have absolutely no use for the mobile aspect. If they made a cheaper TV only version, 10/10 I'd buy it.

Maybe? I have a switch Lite though, so probably not.

They can just copy the VITATV/PSTV. Its basically a docked Vita. I think launch price was $99.

The question is how low can Nintendo get the switch price. If they can get a switch tv type device at the £150 price point then it might do well.

Would you buy a TV-only Switch console?

Yes, it's better than a Switch Lite. The Nintendo Switch is the best of both worlds.

I mean...I've been playing exclusively in portable mode with my new Switch model this year as I've messed up trying to put on enough screen protectors as it is.

Although I like playing in portable mode, but I prefer TV, I like having the option regardless.

I like playing on a screen with a real controller as well. Looking down at a mobile device for too long can be a real pain in the neck (literally).

I probably wouldn't since I already own a regular Switch, but it would make sense to offer this as a cheaper option.

Yeah. Once you take out the screen, batteries, and other mobile related components, I'd imagine the cost would come down considerably.

Who needs to game on a TV? I sure don’t. I love my Switch Lite and I love being able to play anywhere I am.

If it was the only option, I guess, but that would kill the whole selling point of the Switch. The Switch is doing really well because you can take big console games on the go with you. I mean, you can play The Witcher 3 and Breath of the Wild on a handheld anywhere you want. If you take that away, it's just another console, but with inferior quality ports and Nintendo's first party games.

Definitely I would buy it if it were noticeably better than the current Switch.

I would prefer one without the screen, I didn't use my screen as much as I first thought I would.

Yeah but it has to be Significantly more powerful. Like being able to run BOTW at 1080p 60FPS minimum. Games like Astral Chain running at double the frame rate and No longer games running at poultry 720p

Yup, I would buy a Nintendo Switch TV console, because I bought the PS Vita TV micro console. Despite having a PS Vita 1000 and Slim PS Vita 2000 handheld consoles. So this time Nintendo will "pull a Sony" if a Switch television only console happens. Usually every one else "pulls a Nintendo" including Nintendo themselves.

Oh yeah.

I've been wanting one from the start. I'd like to get a used one with a broken screen or something so I can build a better cooling solution for it and make it more like a console. Overclock the snot out of it so it runs BotW and Link's Awakening better.

In fact, if anyone has an early version (before they upgraded the battery life) with a broken screen I'll buy it from you if it still works in the dock.

I absolutely would buy the console. It would be a nice departure from Nintendo’s gimmick consoles. Not that there’s anything wrong with gimmick consoles though.

If they had it where the game did have a graphics overhaul and was able to play more of the games that are coming on Xbox and Playstation without having to cut corners, then maybe but I always feel like this defeats the purpose of the Switch entirely. At that point I would rather it be a Switch 2 or something.

I already own a Switch so I won’t be buying another one.

For Switch 2, if there is a TV-only console, I will buy that if I decided to buy another Nintendo console. I don’t use my Switch for handheld gaming so that feature of its design doesn’t sell me. But there are other things Nintendo needs to do to get my money next console cycle.

I only play switch handheld mode like maybe 1% of the time. I never cared for hand held systems much just hard to play on like a 5 inch screen even more so now days with a 55 inch tv so yes.

I'm pretty much 90% handheld when on the switch.

Once in a while I'll play on a TV with it, but it's rare, stuff like astral chain, botw, but most the time in playing im handheld.

The switch is pretty much my console for before I fall asleep in bed, or when my girl is watching something on the TV. It's a great console for pick up and play. I don't think the games on switch really need a TV, but I appreciate that I can if I want to.

But nah I wouldn't get a switch where I have to have a TV. The handheld part of it is the coolest thing about the switch imo.

Sure. I have a standard switch and dont play portable. If the next gen Switch had a TV only option for a cheaper price, that would be my go-to.

No. I love the hybrid design and if they deviate from that design with Switch 2 I'll likely not get one.

No, I use the Switch more than anything else because it can also work as a handheld.

I like the hybrid design but found myself playing it more on my TV as the gen went on. I would be interested depending on the price.

No I like the hybrid design if you want to play on the TV you can already do. That there is no need to buy a tv only switch if you have a switch original or oled

Only if it had better hardware, but the whole point of the Switch is to be a hybrid, which is 1 reason why it's not that powerful.
