Hey everyone was thinking bout picking up a wii u shortly for smash bros 4 Mario kart 8 and wind waker hd, but was just wondering if the woo u is really being killed off by the nx. I no the wifi was out from 2007 till around 2013 so and the game cube was like 2001 to 2007 so should I expect to get at least 2 years from it or will Nintendo cut the wifi u short at 4 years. Btw lots of people telling me the wii u is dead and is being killed off by nx shortly and other people tellin me that the system still has a lot of life left in it

All we know is that NX will be talked about next year. Everything else is just predictions.

Given the lackluster sales of the Wii U, it just seems likely that a new system will be in place at the end of 2016.

It's kinda dead. They'll release a few more "big" titles like Xenoblade and Starfox, but I imagine not much else after early 2016.

Its got a lot of life still, the games will be around for quite awhile. NX will most likely not replace Wii U but help push sales of Wii U and N3DS. Gamecube sold extremely horrible, but Nintendo never gave up on it, they just cut its price in half.

There are a large number of great games for the Wii U. Some of the games that I would suggest include:

Art Academy: SketchPad

Disney Infinity 2.0

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

Mario Kart 8

Namco Museum (Nintendo e-Shop)

New Super Mario Bros. U

Rapala Pro Bass Fishing 2012

Splatoon

Super Mario 3D World

Super Smash Bros. Wii U

Tekken Tag Tournament 2

Games nowadays take 2+ years to make, and even if the NX comes out sometime in 2016, there may not be a lot of games for it for some time. Games like Disney Infinity 2.0, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, and Tekken Tag Tournament have replay-ability for years to come.

@dhannaf997: I say its worth it, it has great games plus more to come, if your wanting to play Nintendo games then now is better then ever. You could wait for NX but you got a ways to go as NX wont be announced till June 2016, sure it will most likely play Wii U games, but its lineup will be small at launch as all new systems are. The online for Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Splatoon etc will be going for a long time.

People are saying Wii U is dying cause third party abandoned it, many developers have moved to mobile and Indie gaming, so Nintendo is basically supporting the system by themselves. But the awesome games are there, and theyre petty easy to find without all the other junk to clutter its space. We are dealing with quality over quantity. Just dont expect Wii U to be getting big multiplats or sports games. Wii U is what it is and will be getting mainly more Nintendo developed games.

@dhannaf997: If you go to your local Gamestop or Bestbuy you can try the system out and play some demos. Also the games you listed, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, Wind Waker HD are a great starting combo, plus if you get Mario 3D World bundle makes for a very diverse lineup. Splatoon bundle would be cool also if your into competitive games a lot, its probably the best one on Wii U. I have only played a little of Mario 3D World, but its fun playing with others.

Also dont forget, if you dont mind buying preowned from Nintendo you can get, Wii U bundle with Nintendo Land for $200, or Nintendo Land and Super Mario 3D World for $225. Nintendo has very good preowned systems, theyre basically brand new.

If you can find it for fairly cheap, it's definitely worth the purchase. There are enough good games at this point that even if the only big games left to come are Xenoblade, Star Fox and Zelda, it'll have been worth it!
