I have mine hooked up to a 30-ish inch widescreen 720p tv. It looks OK with component cables. You can see some jaggies but in motion it looks fine. A plain 480p EDTV would look best. You may actually prefer playing Wii with composite on an HDTV if you hate jaggies, but you'll have to put up with some Vaseline-covered-TV-like blurriness.
i have my wii connected to a 42inch lcd high quality display. It has pixel plus 3 and does artificial aliasing on all my wii games, making them look better than on my 32inch lcd tv. However the tv cost $8000.
