I've missed out on the DS era (I had one when it first came out but I don't remember what happened to it). I want to get and play all the pokemon games on the DS systems (The regular games not the games like Mystery Dungeon etc.) So which DS should I get? I heard the 3DS can play all types of games so is that the best one to get? What is the price range for the hand-held? Also, what Pokemon games should i start and end with? Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the 3DS can play DS games too so I would go with that unless money is an issue. A 3DS XL is around $200 here in the states, while a regular 3DS (if you can find one, I haven't seen the regular ones in stores in a while) would be cheaper. A 2DS is $130 if you're interested in that.

As for which Pokemon games you should start with, if you wanted to play them in the order they came out in...

-Pearl/Diamond/Platinum (4th Generation)
-HeartGold/SoulSilver (2nd Generation remakes)
-Black/White (5th Generation)
-Black 2/White 2 (Sequels to BW)
-X/Y (6th Generation)
-OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire (3rd Generation remakes)

X, Y, OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire are 3DS-only games.

@raugutcon:a DSiXL...maybe these Pokemon titles do fit

  • Diamond/Pearl
  • Black/White
  • Black/White 2
  • HeartGold/SoulSilver
  • X/Y/ORAS (I don't think it's possible to play these titles,as the cartridges may not fit well, and these titles are using improved engines the DSi didn't have at the time)

those are the main titles..now the spinoffs.

  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky(highly recommended)
  • Pokemon Trozei
  • Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team

get a "new" 3ds...it plays all DS games plus all 3ds games.

if your low on cash...DS lite ...the Ds lite plays all GBA games too.

The 3DS Pokemon games are great, but one thing I should note is that the gameplay has been made a lot easier in those games, and the campaigns have gotten shorter in favor of a more casual approach and more multiplayer content.

The 3DS will only net you Pokemon X and Y + all the DS games for a higher price tag. The DSiXL should suffice with a good price tag I'm sure.
