I have owned a 3dsXL in the past, but have sold it because I beat and played all the games I wanted to..and essentially I was just done with the system. Recently I have had the urge to pick up and play some of the games that it offers.

I have found a pretty good deal on craigslist for a 3dsXL, omega ruby, Y, mariokart7, and Bravely Default, for $140. I have played all these games before but just wanted to pick it up again to play here and there and to keep.

OR, should I purchase a brand new new 3dsxl? are the changes worth $200?

@polishkid99: I would get the N3DS, the N3DS XL just takes it to the next level, with new controls (c-stick, can use to zoom in and out on webpages plus much, much more), way better 3D with face tracking, slightly longer lasting battery, weighs a tad lighter then the 3DS XL, built in reader for Amiibos, also comes with upgraded processor and RAM which makes it a little faster at certain tasks. The game card slot, stylus holder, and power button have been re-located to the base of the system. The volume button has been relocated to the oppisite side of the 3D switch. The power, home, start, and select buttons have also been revamped and improved. Then the small minor change that the letters on the buttons are now in color. Also the buttons are more mechanical now which is another plus for many.

@polishkid99: Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the family. Did you purchase any games with it? Or looking into to getting a couple?

@mesome713:

I got animal crossing and Rayman origins. I'm still deciding if i should get any games i previously owned like mariokart or smash but we'll see. I want to pick up xenoblade and monster hunter 4, maybe majorss mask as well. How are those games compared to ocarina and mh3? (I didn't enjoy either because of the camera/lack of control)

@polishkid99: The Monster Hunter 4 controls are pretty sweet. I havnt played the game yet though, i hear the camera stick is great on it though. I love Xenoblade, it was an awesome rpg. I also havnt played the Majoras Mask one either, but i hear that one and Link to the Past are awesome.

I havnt played many big 3DS games, i loved Kid Icarus Uprising and Kirby Triple Deluxe. I want to get the Animal Crossing one soon when i beat some more games.

@polishkid99: Youll have to contact Nintendo and do a remote system transfer. They can retrieve your Nintendo ID and get you a clean start. Youll lose all your stuff, but theyll help you re download stuff if you had any games from eShop.
