stuck in Castlevania dawn of sorrow *Spoilers*

ok so i have to ride this platform across, and at certain points there are these piles of ice arranged differently, and I don't know how to ride the platform all the way across before being blocked by ice. I'm in the wizardly lab area. What do i have to do?

Nvm, I found out what i have to do. But one thing: How do I use the soul that I get that is on the third slot? I'm talking about for ex. the Ouija Table.

You equip it and do what the description says. Example, Ouiji table. Sit to restore health. Pretty self explanitory. Equip soul -> sit (press up if you can't figure it out) -> enjoy free health.
