Sega bought Atlus

This doesn't seem like a good outcome to me... although there are certainly worse ones. I think Nintendo would have respected Atlus enough to let it do its own thing but I'm not as sure about Sega.

They haven't localized Valkyria Chronicles 3, so Sega is automatically on my poop list.

But there could have been worse companies to buy them, I must say.

We do not have VC3 or Yakuza V, so I'm going to say yes.

I'm happy that another 1st party didn't get them because that means that Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem is going to get released.

Is there any news about how Atlus USA plays into this?

If they allow their US branch to stay as it is, doesn't that mean we in the US will still get Atlus' titles (same with NISA who brings their stuff to Europe)?

I am really not sure.  It is kind of a grey area.  Atlus USA before said that they would be unaffected by what happens to the Japanese parent company but that was before Atlus was sold off.  I honestly was hoping it would be Nintendo.  At least we would not be worried about games being localized and despite common perception Nintendo does not hate M rated games, they themselves just do not really make them (I have five M games on the Wii).  I know how much it would dissappoint the Persona fans for it to be on a Nintendo system but at least the other games not as profitable would be localized and not be forced into making smartphone games like SEGA has been saying...

why do you want it to stay on playstation only?

Sega will pretty much leave Atlus to continue doing what they do, Atlus USA (which is a separate company from Atlus JP) will still handle the localizations and nothing is really gonna change at all, i'm just glad Sega bought them instead of Nintendo, don't get me wrong i love what nintendo and atlus have been doing together but Persona 5 has been in the works for years on most likely PS3 so if Ninty bought atlus that would just get delayed even moreso

I've always really liked Sega and what they've done, other than maybe Konami there isn't a multiplat company that i think would have been able to do a better job of owning them.. just be thankful it wasn't like Activision or Ubisoft who bought them. (also yes Valk Chron 3 was a f-up, but they're doing better now, i mean Project Diva F got localized)

I don't think Nintendo would have bought Index, it would have bought Atlus.
