i have an hdtv and i bought some component cables for my wii a few weeks ago. i think zelda and all that looks a little better...i just want my wii to look as good as it can, though i know the wii will never have amazing graphics but i bought it for the gameplay. but when i try to play a gamecube game like Metroid Prime Echoes it never asks me if i want to run it in progressive scan! i'm pretty sure i have everything hooked up right, so if anyone has any helpful suggestions they would be appreciated.

So it's such a big deal to you that you'll rely on others online rather then Nintendo themselves?

Just call Nintendo

Only america runs progressive scan for gc games, i had the same problem. If you do live in america though then it should work, make sure the game is pro scan compatible.

1) hook up Wii using component cable.  2) go into the Wii's settings and turn on progressive scan.  3) GC games that support progressive scan will ask you if you want to turn it on, like they did using the GC

That's what I did.
