It's already been announced on NeoGaf that this is more than likely Capcom's fault.

I mean the outcry of the flowers was bad enough that a change in box art isnt unwarrented. So someone from marketing probably searched for an older boxart. IGN puts their logo in boxarts so that when sites copy photos, its easily traced and nobody outside the loop would ever know.

Put a lazy marketing team with an easily downloaded picture and presto, IGN accidentally supports okami. Think of it as the special 9.0 edition boxart. while we look for the gamespot logo inside the manual.

IGN always puts their logo on the bottom-right corner of the pictures, so that is not what happened here.

I wonder why is the logo there, maybe thye put it because IGN has always been so supportive with this game.

There's no way it's a coincidence. I have the game box in front of me - not only is the logo present, the letters "IGN" are also clearly present. Someone somewhere put IGN's watermark on the cover; the real question is how it happened and if it was intentional (probably not).
