What kind of improvements would you guys want to see if there's a new DS. I've always had a problem with the volume control on the bottom of the DS because my pinky would sometimes move it by accident so I put it on the side this time.

here's an image and a video of a DS i designed for fun.

Haha, nice dA. A wider top screen wouldn't actually be that bad imo; for games like FPSes or Racers, where the bottom screen is usually just a map anyway, the idea would wok fine.

All I want from a new DS is an online store and GC graphics capabilities, it'd be the perfect handheld imo :|

O_o it looks great... The only thing that I don't like about it is the rectangular border. It'd be nicer if the borders were more rounded:)

better graphics

louder speakers

maybe an analog stick below the control pad

wider screens

slightly longer stylus

to be able to adjust brightness w/turning off the system

no more gba slot, to make thinner and lighter

to fold the ds backwards making it like an mp3 player

All Nintendo need do for their next consoles is a DS with a high res wide screens and competent 2D and 3D engines, and do a Wii 2 with the next best processor and be fully backwards compatible with the current consoles. No need to make a Magma with Power Gloves or Gamboy with special glasses (not VR) for a long while.

Be able to hold multiple cartridges at once! wider screen, improved graphics, make the AXBY buttons glossy like on the PSP it feels better, not a whole lot more - maybe an internet browser in the system.

I completely agree. That would be a really interesting idea to add a mp3. To solve the GBA slot ordeal, just be able to download them from an online store off of the DS onto a DS cartridge that can hold about 1 GB of GBA games and maybe video or something for the mp3 flip. I would like to see a better customization for the navigation menus and such.

Instead of making it more portable I'd much rather see something with storage or more power so that they could hold bigger games like 3D ports/original games.(if that makes since)

I'd want DS2 to have the mic be used for all on-line games for voice chat, no GBA slot, and SSB DS.

Get rid of the touch/stylus.TheGTAvaccine

Erm, ok IMO the touch/stylus is what makes ds the ds. Getting rid of it is like getting rid of the motion sensors in the Wii.

And that would be something that would improve the Wii.

Only 266 Mhz CPU? The new handheld should be more powerful than the PSP and approaching GC specs.

That's an interesting design. The corners look uncomfortable though... I think round corners would work better.

ultimategamer92

The problem is if you remove the GBA slot, you're not just removing support for GBA games. There's also various accessories, such as the Gutar Hero controller, which wouldn't work.

look at the psp...it has a joystick (im asuming ruhdezee meant a control stick) and it works fine. the only thing wrong with it is it doesnt have 2 of them XD

fritter7

I have a PSP, and IMHO the "nub" is junk. It's just not even remotely as responsive as a stick should be.

Oh, as for things I would like to see personally...

  • Slightly larger screens (both), as well as a higher pixel resolution (320x240 at least... 640x480 would be even better).
  • Keep the game cards. They use a lot less battery power than discs.
  • As stooge55 already said, the option to adjust screen brightness without having to turn the whole system off first.

just keep GBA functionality and bring back GB/GBC compatibility. The slot is used for other things like we have seen with Guitar Hero and Metroid Pinball.

I say drop the GBA slot, put Game Boy games on the VC and transfer them to internal memory. The GBA slot takes up too much space to be useful.

Wide Screen, Thumbstick. Basically what the PSP has plus dual screen and touch support. Also, both screens with touch screen support.

There is no reason to get rid of the GBA slot. It doesn't get in the way and it offers backwards compatibility of a huge library filed with wonderful titles. It also allows the use of other accessories, some legal, some illegal. The fact that GBA games protrude from the bottom of the slim is nasty, and that could be fixed.

The DS does not need an analog stick. Two games would take advantage of that? Generally the touch screen is the alternative to an analog stick.

Memory sticks of some sort to allow demos and games to be downloaded and kept rather than needing to go all the way to the store just to stand there and play it for 5 minutes before leaving and losing the demo. The functionality of the DS would go WAY up if only you could save things within the handheld itself kinda like certain accessories allow.

A useful chat system over the internet, within game and with easily accessed friends. That's right, NO FRIEND CODES.

I'm going with the concept less is more, so Im not a fan of the joystick idea. I think generally the look of the machine is fine, they should come with anti scratch screens or something though. I like the idea of a build in memory but then again that would be ok to use it as an MP3 but to be honest I think with phones and ipods etc I personally just want it to play games not all singing all dancing like the dare I say it PSP. Only thing would be better graphics and perhaps making the mic more sensitive I dont think its all that good at recongising different accents and such so playing games like Brain Training is difficult.

The design is ok. It pretty much reminded me of a PSP with a foldable top screen. Someone mentioned a Joystick too, that would totally be a PSP.

-Make it with just one screen thats wide and touchscreen (who needs 2 screens i havent found the second screen useful in anything i've played so far except for analogue control). This way you would save battery life aswell.-iphone interface with more apps (imagine all the apps they had in 64dd)- storage space (mp3s,videos,pics)-web browser

More games really thats what we really want more games that really use the hardware to its max.
