I hope this is true.

I love the idea of another Metroid side-scroller. Though, I would expect it to be longer than the gba ones, more innovative (Touch screen, DUH), and improved graphics. Some games just don't look likethey're as good as they could be. I expect to be impressed though if/when this comes out.mach1inferno
they should make the graphics 2d 3d like in new super mario bros.
It would be cool if they never announed and all of a sudden it just started popping up at Wal-Marts and GameStops. :P092093
thats the theory i have about a FF7 remake, hehe...

Nah, though some 3d effects thrown in would be nice for sure. I'd much prefer the characters/enemies to be 2d sprites, I'd imagine the DS could make them look pretty damn nice using just nice large hi-res sprites.
This would also be the first Metroid game (if it comes out) with capability for full audio, something which makes me almost wet myself.
Has anyone here played Metroid 2?silkynateYeah, but you aren't missing much. The whole game is running around killing metroids which eventually get tougher and bigger.

same here i think they should stick with regular 2d sprites. 3d sprites would look squished on the screen like they did in NSMB or they would be to big for the screen LIke they did somewhat in NSMB. i think they should stick to the 2d sprotes but update them. Like what they did with the CAstlevania games on the DS. Some 3d background(like they did in Castlevania DoS would be nice too).
I crave a sequel to Fusion.... but a remake of super metroid or metroid would be cool too.
Updated graphics would be great, especially with what the DS can do with 2.5D. Nintendo should, at all costs, NOT use the mic for anything (blow to remove gas, etc would just suck) and I'd be quite happy for them to ignore the touch screen all together. Metroid doesn't need it, and I'd hate for them to slap something on just because they felt they had to.
This is assuming, of course, that Metroid Dread is actually still happening, and that this isn't some nasty nintendo trick :)
