Is anyone finding using the grapple in Metroid 3 wears you out? I am. Don't get me wrong, I love the game and using that grapple to yank shields off pirates is awesome! It really puts me into the experience. But last night I was in some big combat and after the fight was over I was exhausted.
What techniques do you use for the grapple? Maybe I'm just throwing myself too much into the game (which is really fun to do). Would just sitting back and flicking the nunchuck lightly work just as well? Or do you find you really need to whip that grapple like your life depends on it?

It sounds like you're doing the motion to quickly, like throwing a baseball. I don't think flicking really works, but if you just slow down the movement you should be able to grapple without the hassle.

Wow man I can't believ that wears you out. I mean I know I'm athletic and in really good shape but I still couldn't imaging that wearing someone out! But if it does than like he said just do slower motions, if in fact you are doing it really fast.

And hey, if this all is the case regardless, ian't that a testament to the game and to the Wii for putting you so much in the game that you become tuckered out. Hmm oh that's right, MP3 is the second best video game ever conceived by man. I guess that makes sense.

wow man, you shouldn't get wii fit. But if it turns out you are just throwing the nunchuck and not flicking it, i can see why, wii games are more fun when you go crazy with the controls.

I've found the Wii gives you a workout whether you realize it or not. When I first got mine and I was playing Boxing on Wii sports, I was surprised when I realized how hard they expect you to throw your punches. After my first three bouts I was sore in muscles that I had forgotten I had. It made my work at my factory job the next day quite painful. Then I started playing The Bigs and after a few games realized that I was feeling a tightness in my abs from doing the batting motion. I knew that the whole idea of the Wii was to get people up off the couch and doing some activity, but I didn't really think it would affect me the way it has. Hey, if it gets your heart pumping, that's a good thing, go with it!!:)

Exhausted? How? You use it like two or three times every ten minutes max.

there are some bosses where you grapple a lot. That ice guy I think is an example.

I find I get worn out on my shooting hand rather than the grapple one. Some of those bosses man, just wow. the game rewards aggression so much. If you hide you'll bleed health, but if you stay in it the boss will spit up health spheres during some phases

It could be your technique.

When I first started grappling I pulled back with the nunchauk at an angle or even horizontal at times. I found I had to pull back two or three times to rip a shield or something.

But then I found if I keep the nunchauk completely vertical when flicking back as it is when flicking forward, it's as easy as ever and shields or what have you are ripped off in the first attempt.

So make sure the nunhuack is completely vertical when you use the grappling hook, both when you flick forward and flick back.

And yes, I know I don't know how to spell nunchauk. :)

Guys, give him a break. Maybe he doesn't use his left hand for anything much. He could just mean it hurts his wrist when he plays, not like he's out of shape and can't breathe by the end. Carpel tunnel is easy to get.

If a lot you mean 2-3 times yeah. The bosses didn't require that many grapples unless you suck really bad and only hit its weak point barely at all. I bet I could take Rundus out only grappling once.

Haha... that's why I'm never gonna buy a Wii. I love 360/PS3 controllers!

Of course, I understand why people can like it more.

I never got exhausted with the grapple, but my wrist that had the Wiimote would get tired after a while, especially during some long sessions. Probably needed to relax my hand on something a little more. I would say just don't overexaggerate the motions with the nunchuck. Just calmly flick it towards the screen and flick it back. Great game btw.

I've never had any problems with it,though I can see how it can be painful to do the gesture.

Exhausting, using the grapple? Not too much. The most exhausting thing is pressing "A" so many times to kill an enemy, specially in hypermode difficulty. But it is very satisfactory after you beat a very difficult boss. That adds some challenge to the game, mentally and physically.
