is it possible to take out the internal sd card

and replace it with a bigger one, or are you only able to put one in the slot they give you.

It's a flash chip not a sd card. Theoritcally if you could find a bigger one of the same type you could. However the format of the internal flash is unknown so while you could replace it the replacement would be blank and wouldn't have the default setup of the factory 512MB flash chip.

I wouldnt lose hope that such a product may exist in the future, but nearly everyone who would want it would own a 360. 

Also, you would get the space for extra VC games, and when Nintendo found out that your Wii was a bit different, they would disallow you from owning any VC games.  So its a moot point altogether cause...you can download from them all you want.
