Recently my brother told me that he played Goldeneye and the gameplay is still wicked fast. In light of the Wii's unfortunate lack of FPS games I ask here (since there's no N64 forum) do you feel Goldeneye would be WAY too dated to play? I still remember half the game's guns and all that, but are the advances made in games today so great that this game is unpleasantly unplayable? I don't think so, not one bit. But I am curious to as whether you guys are really willing to play it on the VC or are just blowing hot air and jumping on the 'dude deadly towers rocked' bandwagon (Even though Deadly Towers was awesome).

I think I could play it and still enjoy it, especially using a classic controller.

No... a good game is a good game. I still love to play NES games and I think SNES games look as amazing as ever. 3D games tend to age a bit worse I think, but it's still worth playing.

Goldeneye was one of only a few games i played on the n64 without getting a headache! It is a very fun game and i believe it was ahead of it's time in a way. Perfect Dark was also a very great title for back in the day so maybe it's very likely that if it reaches the VC that it will receive high acclaim :)

Graphics - extremely dated.

Goldeneye is and will forever be a classic. Sure it'll take some time to get used to the controls, pacing, framerate, and what have you, but it is indeed VERY playable. My friend went back and beat it entirely on 00 Agent after playing Perfect Dark for so long lol.

Goldeneye is dated, but since it is a 12 years old game I would say it's pretty normal, yet it has aged very well. I still pop it in from time to time to replay the snow mission with the hard-earned all weapons cheat mode on.

I have a hard time going back to the soupy graphics in early 3D games. I'd rather play a 2D SNES game.

I wouldn't go back and play Goldeneye, but I would gladly play a Legend of Zelda N64 game. It isn't the system, it is the game.

A game that emphasizes graphical content will always look dated, so in that regard, yeah.

I know a lot of people will say that the gameplay is not dated, but it's not nearly as fluent as First-person Shooters are today. The 2nd analog stick is absolutely key to the FPS by today's standards, and that really hurts Goldeneye's archaic "shoulder-pressing-to-aim-up-or-down" button scheme.

Still a great game, and definitely playable, but it's just not the smoothest experience anymore.

There's a Legacy Platforms board for old games.

And I wish that GE remake had gone through...

1st line is basically telling you that this is off topic, since the Legacy Board is for games on systems pre-PS3, 360, and Wii. And no, Rouge Agent wasn't a remake, it was a stupid cash-in on a game that EA had nothing to do with. GoldenEye was being remade for XBLA and possibly WiiWare by Rare, but Activision put the axe on it since Iwata would only allow the game to go through if it were a Wii exclusive. Activision didn't want to hurt their relationship with Nintendo, so...

It's more of a classic than a dated game to me.

Um, Half Life 2.....that's at least one better FPS.

Although a great game in it's time, it's very dated. I played it recently, and although it's still fun to play, there are better games in the genre that have released since this game came out.

Talking HL2, who else would love to see a port on the Wii? If it can be done on the XBox, why not the Wii? Honestly, I just want more FPS that use the Wii's controls to it's full potential. MoH:H2 will only last so long....
